Significant Weather Features
♦ The Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies runs roughly along Long. 71°E to the north of Lat. 32°N. Another Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies runs roughly along Long. 53°E to the north of Lat. 20°N. Under their influence:
⇒ Light to moderate scattered rainfall/snowfall very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on 03rd & 04th March. Light isolated rainfall also likely over Uttarakhand and Punjab on 04th March. Dry weather likely over the region thereafter.
♦ Strong surface winds (speed 20-30 kmph) very likely over Uttar Pradesh on 03rd & 04th March.
♦ Under the influence of a north-south trough in lower level easterlies:
⇒ Isolated light rainfall likely over north Maharashtra, south Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat during 04th-07th March.
⇒ Isolated light/moderate thunderstorm activity also likely over West Madhya Pradesh on 04th & 05th; over East Madhya Pradesh during 05th - 07th and over Vidarbha on 06th & 7th March, 2023.
♦ Squally weather (wind speed 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) likely over Comorin area on 04th & 05th March.

♦ Rainfall/thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at many places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad.
♦ Significant amount of rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday)(in cm): NIL.
♦ Thunderstorm observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0530 hours IST of today): at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
♦ Fog observed (at 0530 hours IST) at isolated places over Odisha.
♦ Visibility recorded (at 0530 hours IST): Bhubaneswar-50.
♦ Minimum Temperature Departures (as on 02-03-2023): Minimum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan & Muzaffarabad, Punjab; at many places over Rajasthan; at a few places over East Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Saurashtra & Kutch, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at many places over Bihar, Chhattisgarh; at a few places over Gujarat Region, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand; at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidharbha. They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana; at isolated places over Karnataka,Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the lowest minimum temperature of 12.0°C was reported at Karnal (Haryana) over plains of the country.
♦ Maximum Temperature Departures (as on 02-03-2023): Maximum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at most places over Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka; at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Uttar Pradesh and Saurashtra & Kutch; at a few places over Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gangetic West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat Region; at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places over Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Konkan & Goa; at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Vidarbha and Kerala & Mahe; at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. They were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan &
Muzaffarabad, Rayalaseema and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 39.6°C was reported at Mangalore (Coastal Karnataka).

♦ The Western Disturbance as a trough in middle & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long. 71°E to the north of Lat. 32°N.
♦ The other Western Disturbance as a trough in middle & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long. 53°E to the north of Lat. 20°N.

SIGNIFICANT WEATHER FEATURES
♦ Movement of Western Disturbances had caused scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall/thunderstorm activity over Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on one or two days whereas isolated rainfall/snowfall/thunderstorm activity had occurred over the same areas on two to three days and over Uttarakhand on three to four days during the week.
♦ Passage of the Western Disturbances along with an induced cyclonic circulation had caused fairly widespread rainfall/thunderstorm activity over Punjab on a single day and isolated rainfall/thunderstorm activity over the same areas and over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and West Rajasthan on one day each towards the end of the week.
♦ Remnants of Western Disturbances and troughs/cyclonic circulations in the lower tropospheric levels supported by moisture incursion over to the areas had caused scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall/thunderstorm activity over Arunachal Pradesh on four to five days along with isolated rainfall/snowfall/thunderstorm activity over the same areas on the remaining days of the week; under their influence, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/ thunderstorm activity had occurred over Assam &
Meghalaya and Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on one or two days of the week along with isolated rainfall/thunderstorm activity over the same areas on the remaining days; Also, isolated rainfall/thunderstorm activity had occurred over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on three to four days and over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on one day each; under their influence, isolated heavy rainfall had occurred over Assam & Meghalaya on a single day whereas isolated hailstorm had occurred over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya on one day each during the week.

♦ Heavy rainfall had occurred at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya on one day during the week.
Hailstorms:
♦ Hailstorms had occurred at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya on one day each during the week.
Fog:
♦ Dense to very dense fog had been reported at isolated places over Saurashtra & Kutch on one day during the week.
Temperature Scenario:
♦ The highest maximum temperature of 38.7oC had been recorded at Bhuj (Saurashtra & Kutch) on 28th February 2023 and the lowest minimum temperature of 7.5oC had been recorded at Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) on 23rd February 2023 over the plains of the country during the week.

METEOROLOGICALANALYSIS
♦ Last week’s trough in low level westerlies with its axis roughly along Long. 90°E to the north of Lat. 22°N persisted with the same alignment but extended upto 1.5 km above mean sea level on 23rd February 2023;
it has become less marked on 24th February 2023.
♦ A Western Disturbance was seen as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 55°E to the north of Lat. 32°N in the early morning hours of 25th February 2023 and roughly along Long. 60°E to the north of Lat. 32°N from the morning of that day; it continued as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 65°E to the north of Lat. 32°N on 26th and roughly along Long. 72°E to the north of Lat. 32°N on 27th; It has moved away east-northeastwards in the early morning hours of 28th February 2023.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lay over east Bangladesh & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level on 25th February 2023; it persisted over the same region extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level on 26th; it has become less marked on 27th February 2023.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lay over northeast Bihar & neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level on 27th February 2023; it has become less marked on 28th February 2023.

♦ A Western Disturbance lay as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 65°E to the north of Lat. 32°N in the early morning hours of 28th February 2023;it was seen as a cyclonic circulation over east Afghanistan at 3.1 km above mean sea level with a trough aloft in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 65°E to the north of Lat. 32°N in the morning of the same day; it was seen as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long.
65°E to the north of Lat. 35°N on 1st March 2023.
♦ An Induced cyclonic circulation lay over southwest Rajasthan & adjoining south Pakistan and extended upto 1.5 km above mean sea level on 28th February 2023; it lay over southeast Rajasthan & adjoining West Madhya Pradesh and extended upto 1.5 km above mean sea level on 1st March 2023.
♦ A trough in lower tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 1.5 km above mean sea level ran roughly along Long. 90°E to the north of Lat. 25°N on 28th February 2023; it has become less marked on 1st March 2023.
♦ A cyclonic circulation lay over south Assam & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level on 1st March 2023.
