Introduction: High volume endurance training can reduce antioxidant capacity and increased production of free radicals and oxidative stress. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of curcumin supplementation on heart’s antioxidant capacity during 8 weeks of endurance training in male wistar rats. Materials and Methods: 30 Male wistar rats (weight=

255.79±17.06 g, aged= 8 weeks) after one week familiarization period, were randomly divided in to 4 groups; Control (n=6), curcumin (n=6), Endurance (n=9) and Endurance+curcumin (n=9). Endurance training (8 weeks, 5 sessions a week) carried out on animal treadmill. The speed and duration of running were 10 m/min and 30 min at first week, respectively and reached to the 35 m/min and 70 min at last week. The animals in supplement groups received curcumin supplement by subperitonealinjection (8 weeks, 3 sessions a week, 30 mg/kg.Bw). Analysis of variance was used to analysis of the data. Results: the result of this study showed that strenuous endurance training in combination with curcumin improves the activity of antioxidant enzyme of heart tissue in compare with control (p=0/00) and endurance (p=0/025) groups. Moreover, the level of antioxidant enzymes GPX strenuous endurance training had a significant increase compared to the control (p=0.03). Conclusion:

Based on the findings of this study, curcumin supplementation can improves the antioxidant capacity of heart tissue. Regular activities will lead to compatibility and improved performance on antioxidant system.
