The effect of curcumin supplementation during 8- weeks of endurance training on tissue of lung MDA level of male wistar rat

Abstract
Aim and Background: High volume endurance training, can reduce system performance antioxidant, increased production of free radicals and oxidative stress in the end. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of curcumin supplementation on tissue of lung malondialdehyde (MDA) as oxidative status level during 8 weeks of endurance training in male wistar rats. Materials and Methods: 24 Male wistar rats (weight=
255.79±17.06 g, aged= 8 weeks) after one week familiarization period, were randomly divided in to 3 groups;
Control (n=6), Endurance (n=9) and Endurance+curcumin (n=9).Endurance training (8 weeks, 5 sessions a week) carried out on animal treadmill. The speed and duration of running were 10 m/min and 30 min at first week, respectively and reached to the 35 m/min and 70 min at last week. The animals in Endurance+curcumin group received curcumin supplement by subperitoneal injection (8 weeks, 3 sessions a week, 30 mg/kg.Bw).
MDA levels of lung tissues were measured by spectrophotometric (absorbance at 532 nm, using TBARS method). Analysis of variance was used to analysis of the data. Results: The results of this study showed that strenuous endurance training increases the tissue of lung MDA level (p<0.05, p<0.009) and curcumin supplementation can prevent from increasing the MDA level of lung tissue(p<0.05, p<0.044). . Posts enzyme MDA in the control group 2.93±0.48, in strength 3.38±0.25 and endurance+Curcumin 2.82 ± 0.45, respectively.
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, curcumin supplementation can prevent from oxidative stress during strenuous endurance training.
