Effects of menstrual cycle phase on physical fitness in high school students
Abstract
Background The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of menstrual cycle on physical fitness level is the non-athlete students. 20 non-athlete students 20-16 years old were selected in three stages of their menstrual cycle they were tested in physical fitnesstests (strength, speed, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, flexibility and agility). The results showed the influence of menstrual cycle is different in various factors of the physical fitness. Cycle not affect on power, speed, cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance and flexibility, but the impact was significant effect on agility in bleeding stage and was better than the other stages.
It was observed that the cycle affect the agility (shuttle run 4 × 9 m) and in the luteal phase bleeding is particularly better than the other stages.Keywords: menstrual cycle, sex hormons
