【Year 3】 今月の歌 Hiccup Hiccup CD no. 25 3 年生は、季節の名前を学習しました。自分の Seasons Book を 作成し、その季節で出来ることや見ることのできる物を絵と英語 で書きました。カラフルで可愛いミニブックが完成しました。
３年生は歌を歌うのが大好きで、前回の Jack and Jill も３番ま である歌でしたが、たくさんチャレンジをする子がいました。耳か らたくさんの良い音を聞き、そのまま音声化できるのがこの年齢 の子ども達の強みです。たくさん英語の音を耳から聞いていきま しょう。
現在は楽器の語彙を学習しています。自分が弾ける楽器、弾い てみたい楽器の学習をしています。
【Year 5】 今月の歌 Sing-a-Ling CD no. 43 5 年生は、大きな数と who を学習しています。日本語と英語では 数の数え方が大きく違うところがあるので、初めはみんな混乱し ているようでした。日本語に直して考えず、英語のまま考えるの がコツです。まずは、1 から１００までを英語で確実に言えるように しましょう。１５（fifteen）と５０（fifty)などは発音が似ているので 混乱している姿もみられました。～ティーンとのばすのが 10 代 (１３，１４，１５，１６，１７，１８，１９）です。Who では、名前は伏せて友だちの プロフィールを紹介し、Who is this?と言うクイズをしました。誰？
と聞きたいときには Who と言う表現を使ってみましょう。 また、s, sh のつく早口言葉も学習しました。早口言葉はスラスラ言えるよ うになりましたか？？

【Year 1】 今月の歌 Diddle Diddle Dumpling no. 60 1 年生はいろいろな形や大きさの葉っぱを拾いに森に出かけま した。その後グループで葉っぱを形や大きさで分ける活動をしま した。そして、一枚の葉っぱを使い絵を描きました。葉っぱが動物 の体の一部になっていたりと面白い作品ができました。このよう に、学習した形容詞(fat, thin, long, short, big, small, smooth, pointy)を使って葉っぱの形や大きさなどを説明しました。
【Year 4】 今月の歌 Teddy Bear Teddy Bear
4 年生は、命令形を使って料理のレシピを書きました。料理名を 隠してレシピを発表し、何の料理について言っているのかクイズ をしました。みんなよく考えて書けていましたし、発表も動きをつ けながら上手にできていました。また、今月の歌に乗せて、自分か らみんなに指示を出すというゲームもしました。命令形の学習を 通してたくさんの動詞に触れることができました。
今月の語句は、-ole, -oke, -ole, -ore のつく言葉です。前回の テストでは、どの単語も必ず-o-e になるというルールを理解して いる子が増え、4 文字の単語を書ける子が多く見られました。こ の調子で頑張りましょう。
【Year 2】 今月の歌 What are Little… CD no. 60 2 年生は料理のレシピを書き終えました。表紙を書き、レシピの 下書きをし、色を塗り清書しました。クラスでレシピの発表もしまし た。子どもたちは自分が担当しているステップを自信いっぱいに 言うことができました。子どもたちの作ったレシピは英語教室内 に掲示してあります。パンケーキ、カレー、ピザ、サンドウィッチそ れぞれどうやって作るのか見に来てください。
【Year 6】 今月の歌 Who Builｔ the Ark? CD no. ３９ ６年生は、must（～しなければいけない）、Must not (～しては いけない)の学習をしました。世界の国々のルールを教材に、それ が本当なのか嘘なのか考えました。 In Russia, you must not finish your plate. In Vietnam, you must wear a helmet when riding a bike. これらは本当でしょうか、嘘でしょうか。
また、Must を使った早口言葉 I must buy nine pies.はさすが６ 年生、しっかり口が回っていました。
今月の語句は, oo が含まれている言葉です。oo には長く発音 するものと短く発音するものと二種類あります。教科書に出てい る言葉以外にも子どもたちはゲームの名前や場所の名前など oo が入っている言葉を発見していました。

アフタースクール英語 1～2 年
お子さんのタイダイはいかがでした か？色も模様もとてもきれいに出てい て、子どもたちはびっくりしていまし た。とても気に入ったようでうれしく思 います。ぜひクッキングの時の三角巾 にしたり、お弁当を包んだりと日常で活 用してください。
アフタースクール英語 3～6 年
本を使っての勉強は、自分のペースでどんどん進められ るのが楽しいようで、本を何冊も終わらせている子がたく さんいます。授業で出てくる単語や表現を勉強している子 も多く、アフターでやったことと授業がつながり自信にも なっているようです。今月の文化的な活動では、クッキング をする予定です。11 月 29 日（火）と 30 日で（水）で行いま すのでエプロンと三角巾をご用意ください。
1st graders completed the long vowels which included the silent “e”. It was interesting to hear the sound of some short vowels words like “hat” changing to “hate”, and “hug” changing to “huge” when the letter “e” was added to the end of the words.
2nd graders are learning about “Super Sentences”. The students like the name and enjoy making sentences, then underlining the different parts like “who/what”, “did what”, “descriptive words”, “when” and “where” in their sentences in various colors. The sentence comes out colorful and the students like it that they are making colorful sentences.
3rd graders recently completed their “What is ---?” lesson in which they think of an object, but do not tell their objects to the other.
They simply say a set of adjectives and the other student guesses from the describing words what the object is. It was exciting. Right now we are working on our “Color Poems”.
4th graders have finished taking notes on their insects, and have turned those notes into paragraphs. In class we have talked about more exact adjectives (wet-damp, soaked) as well as other ways to say “very” (a bit, somewhat, quite, extremely). Ms. Atkin’s students have written poems about their insects as well as sentences comparing their insects to other insects. All that remains for all students are to combine all this insect information onto a poster that will be displayed upon completion.
Ms. Atkin’s 5th graders have been busy preparing their biographies for presenting, as well as learning about adverbs, and adverbial phrases in class.
Mr. Okori’s 5th graders just completed their biography studies and either role-played the people they studied or as someone who knew them closely. We ended with a class presentation in which Jane played George Washington, and Tom played someone who knew Leonardo da Vinci closely. This was preparatory to what they will be doing next year in their talk show.
6th graders had a very busy month. They completed their “Talk Show” and had a wonderful presentation at a luncheon. Within this period they also went on a “School Trip” to Nara, Kyoto and Hiroshima; came back and studied “Haiku”; wrote four haiku and an essay about things they saw on the trip. They are currently working to write those to “Neat”. These will be on display soon in the English department. You are all welcomed to come take a look.
International English Club Our song for this month is “The Turkey Song”. We get quite silly when we sing as we like it so much.
Recently we had a Thanksgiving club. That day we learned about Thanksgiving and talked about what we are thankful for.
In our more recent class we learned about “magic e” words.

thGrade Autobiography Presentations
The sixth graders have been working hard on creating a talk show from scratch, on one of three different topics: comparing Japan with other countries they have lived, cultural differences, and language differences. The fifth and sixth graders came together for lunch. The sixth grade groups, took turns presenting their show to the lunch group. Despite being nervous, they did a great job.
After the sixth graders, the fifth graders had a chance to present their biographies to the group. Shinpei willingly came up and presented his report on Clara Barton at the luncheon. The other fifth graders presented in class the following day.
