INTRODUCTION

Accurate water quality data is important in the interpretation of the actual status of an aquatic environment. But the water quality data is as good as the water sample where they are derived from. Therefore, good water sampling techniques and on-site water analysis are important to ensure the preservation of the water sample integrity and accuracy of on-site recorded data.

A workshop will be jointly conducted by the Water Research and Analysis Centre (ALIR) of University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Marine Ecosystem Research Centre (EKOMAR) and Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM).

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE

The aim of this workshop is to provide basic training to inexperience laboratory personal on how to perform water sampling and on-site water analysis. The course not only provides basic understanding of water sampling and on-site water analysis through a series of lectures, it also includes hands on training in the technique of water sampling in the field as well as water analysis both in laboratory and during field survey.

PARTICIPANTS

The workshop is open to all persons who have no prior experience but wish to acquire basic knowledge and skills about water sampling and analysis in the field. The number of participant is limited to 30 only.

VENUE

Lectures and laboratory training will be held at the ALIR laboratory, School of Chemical Sciences & Food Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi, Selangor. Field training will be carried out at Taman Negara Kuala Tahan, Pahang

WORKSHOP INSTRUCTOR
