Adinandra impressa
ABSTRACT
Adinandra impressa is a small tree recorded from Kinabalu Park, Mesilau river and Bambangan camp. To date, the estimated area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occupancy (EOO) are 24 km2 and 93.3 km2, respectively. Localities outside of protected area are at risk of habitat loss, especially those in Mesilau area which is one of the hotspots of development for tourism purposes. Nevertheless, majority of its extent is within protected area. Hence, it is assessed as Vulnerable. Adinandra impressa is endemic to Sabah, Malaysia. It is restricted to Mount Tambuyukon, Mount Kinabalu and vicinity. The species has experienced decline in area of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO), of 15 and 13% respectively, however, the majority of remaining individuals are in protected areas. The most plausible threat to the species is habitat decline. Localities outside of protected area, particularly Mesilau area is at risk of land use change and therefore the species is considered to occur in nine locations.
