ABSTRACT

An air conditioner system is being used to maintain a comfort temperature inside the building. An air at ambient temperature that is being taken from outside will cause the air conditioner system more energy in order to cool it. The cooled air from inside the building will be blown out in order to sustain a better air circulation and quality inside the room or building. This study will discuss the best possibility in order to reduce the energy consumed by the air conditioner system in order to maintain the comfort temperature and air quality inside the building.

Chapter 1 will give a brief introduction on the background of the project.

Besides, the problem statement of this project will be stated to address the main purpose and significance of conducting this research project. Apart from that, the objective of this research project and also the scope of study will also be presented.

A detailed literature review will be discussed in Chapter 2. In this chapter, the concept and basic understanding of the project is shown. This chapter will tell much on the findings of Z-shape heat exchanger based on the latest research done by scientists.

In Chapter 3, the research methodology, the experimental approach and procedures will be presented in detail to give a clear overview of the whole research project.

While in chapter 4, it will show the data that had been produced during the project. The sequential of formulas used in order to obtain the result will be discussed on this chapter.

On the last chapter which is chapter 5, a conclusion of all results and any findings will be stated there. Any new findings and result will be discussed on the next report.

Eternal blessings and peace upon the Glory of the Universe, our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), his family and companions. First and foremost, thank to the Almighty for the strength given to carry out the Final Year Project II under the title of Effect of Varying Air Flow Configuration and Types of Paper on Heat Exchanger of Energy Recovery System in May 2013 Semester. A deep gratitude goes for the author’s supportive families, who throughout the way provide her with motivation in completing the project.

Special regards with deepest appreciation dedicated to DR MOHAMAD SHAKIR NASIF, the author’s supervisor for his continuous support and help throughout the project consultation. The supervision and support that he gave truly help the progression and smoothness of the author in completing this project. The author’s gratitude also goes to the course mates in exchanging ideas and providing guidance in unfamiliar experimental procedures and usage of laboratories equipments. Last but not least, the author would like to show her heartfelt gratitude to all those who has directly or indirectly involved in this project, for their tremendous support and motivation during the progress and completion of this project.
