GOD’S WORDS FOR TODAY (Lk. 21: (29-33) The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke

And he told them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees; as soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all has taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

REFLECTION:

While we wait for the Lord's physical return in glory, we can know his presence with us through the work and action of the Holy Spirit who dwells in our hearts. The Lord Jesus comes daily and frequently to those who long for him and he speaks tenderly to our hearts like a lover who whispers in the ear of the beloved. He comes to show us the way to our heavenly Father and to give us the hope of eternal life. Do you recognize his presence and do you listen to his word?

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, give me joyful hope and assurance that I will see you face to face and be united with you forever when you return in glory. Amen.

Prayer of St. Gertrude

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

FROM THE INSTITUTIONAL SUSTAINABILITY OFFICE:

Strategic Direction on Creating Sustainable Futures

Goal #12 Responsible Consumption and Production Some water wasteful habits and efficiency in use☺

Leaving the water faucet running while brushing teeth.

If you have the habit of running the water when you’re brushing your teeth, simply remind yourself to turn it off. If you think about it, there is no reason the water needs to be running.

Using your toilet as a trash can.

Toilets are the biggest source of water use. Every time you flush a facial tissue or feminine product, you waste five to seven gallons of water. Not to mention flushing something other than human waste and toilet paper is bad for your pipes and drains!

If we all make an effort to save water, we help maintain groundwater supplies, reduce the amount of energy needed to treat and transport water, and even save money on the water bill!

Let's start conserving water.
