We ensure that all the programs and courses we offer go through the various stages of quality assurance for course development. In the first semester of 1995, when UPOU only offered the Diploma in Science, we had 451 students.

It is important to note that the old UP Charter prohibited the continuation of "service" of any faculty member beyond the age of seventy. The new charter, however, no longer prohibits this because the word now used in section 13(j) is "relationship in office" instead of "service." The two are not interchangeable and, therefore, when section 13(j) provides that it is "relationship" and no longer "service" which cannot be extended beyond the age of 70 years, it must be understood that the Act intended the limitation to apply to the concept closer to.
The change is intentional and intended to convey a specific meaning, i.e. the board of trustees may not extend the term of a faculty member who is over seventy years of age, but may nevertheless allow that faculty member to continue to serve as long as his/her service is still particularly needed due to temporary contract employment.
P. Open University Faculty Education
Given the change in the authority of the Board of Trustees to appoint faculty members over the age of 70 introduced by the new UP Charter, there appears to be no legal bar to a faculty member over the age of seventy (70) continuing to serve the University , as long as the appointment is not a renewal or extension of tenure and if the appointment is temporary and contractual for a fixed period of time and if the services of a particular faculty member are certified as particularly needed. It is argued that the legal opinion issued by Under-Secretary Malilin on March 30, 2000 would have been more consistent with the provisions of the new charter. At its 1236th meeting, which took place on September 29, 2008, the board of directors authorized the president to discuss with the rectors the possibility of implementing a return obligation policy for graduates of other study programs.
There is a committee charged with studying the possibility of requiring a return service obligation for other degree programs.
P. Baguio
These include, but are not limited to, students in the following programs: Masters in Public Management, Masters in Public Health, Diploma and Masters in Environmental and Natural Resource Management and Diploma and Masters in Social Work. Baccalaureate graduates, who graduate between the ages of 20 and 22, usually stay in Mindanao or the country to help their families.

The Grantee shall, with the consent of the Grantee, establish three (3) Dado and Maria Banatao Professorial Chairs under the Dado and Maria Banatao Institute (DMBI) for High Impact Engineering in the Philippines (HighER Philippines) and the Engineering Sciences Examination Bank at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines;. The Beneficiary will, with the consent of the Beneficiary, install signage in a prominent location at the main entrance to the U.P. Each year, the names of additional grantees and the problem they solve are added to the signage.
