This study aimed to set up an anaerobic treatment system for the treatment of wastewater derived from the farming of $IULFDQ&DW¿VK Clarias gariepinus). In this current study, anaerobic treatment of wastewater derived from the African FDW¿VK Clarias gariepinus) aquaculture was conducted in semi-continuous reactor as well as batch reactor under mesophilic condition at 35 °C. The results revealed that the semi-continuous reactors generated higher biogas yield (69.27 mL/g VS) compared with batch reactor (22.81 mL/g VS). High conversion rate of anaerobic treatment process operated in semi-continuous reactor was also represented in higher percentage of COD removal (82.6%) compared with batch reactor which was only 62.76%. After conducting anaerobic treatment process on the wastewater derived IURPWKHFDW¿VKDTXDFXOWXUHVRPHSDUDPHWHUVLQFOXGLQJWRWDOGLVVROYHGVROLGV7'63KRVSKRURXV3SRWDVVLXP. and electrical conductivity (Ec) increased in both batch and semi-continuous reactors. Batch reactors showed TS, VS and COD reduced from 0.23%, 42.88% and 1440 mg/L to 0.137 ± 0.024%, 22.78 ± 19.44% and 536.32 ± 11.27 mg/L, respectively. The results obtained from semi-continuous reactor revealed that TS, VS and COD reduced from 0.23%, DQGPJ/WRDQGPJ/UHVSHFWLYHO\7KLVVWXG\LVKLJKO\VLJQL¿FDQWIRUWKH environmental protection system.

This paper presents the suitability of anaerobic treatment of PEG-containing wastewater as a pre-treatment in order to recover the potential energy in the form of biogas. Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) are polymers composed of repeating sub-units of identical structure, called monomers, and are the most commercially important polyethers. PEGs are liquid or low-melting solids, depending on their molecular weights. It is prepared by polymerization of ethylene oxide. PEGs are non-toxic and are widely used in the manufacture of cosmetics, water-soluble lubricants, antifreeze agents for automobile radiators, and pharmaceutical, in the conservation treatment of ancient wood and in the production of non-ionic surfactants. Therefore, millions of tons of PEGs are manufactured or involved in industrial processes worldwide every year. Most of them reach conventional wastewater treatment systems after industrial utilization.

Combined anaerobic-aerobic treatment, especially biofilm aerobic system, can reduce operating cost by a factor of eight when compared with only aerobic treatment due to reduction in energy consumption [19, 20]. In terms of sludge production, for most wastewaters, the net sludge yield from aerobic activated sludge treatment is of the order of 0.5 kg of volatile suspended solid (VSS) per kg COD removed as opposed to less than 0.1 kg VSS per kg COD removed sludge yield from anaerobic treatment [1]. If the two systems are combined, anaerobic and aerobic processes can generate lesser amounts of sludge and the overall cost of waste treatment can be considerably reduced. The emerging technology for combined treatment, especially for aerobic part is biofilm support. This support will reduce the amount of sludge since the microorgan- ism forms film in the support.

EFFECT OF ANAEROBIC, Dr. Rostika

A signiicant difference of serotonin level between 1x aerobic and 1x anaerobic exercise group was observed. Among aerobic and anaerobic treatment the lowest serotonin level was observed at 1x aerobic exercise (0.006±0.003 ng/ml), and the highest serotonin level was observed at the control followed by the 7x anaerobic exercise. However, this study showed that the exercises done just in a week had lower serotonin level than serotonin level in the control. According to the result, the short duration of exercise did not induce the increase of serotonin secretion. One week of treatment made the given exercises presented early as a stressor rather than as a stimulus to increase serotonin level in brain tissue. Physical exercise done intensively without rest is an acute exercise could induce a stress to the body and decrease the serotonin level in the brain. The study by Chen et al., (2008) showed that Sprague–Dawley rat treated by running 9 m/minute for 60 minutes every day during four weeks revealed a decrease of serotonin level in its hippocampus.
