as the designer/contractor, this Master Bath remodel was perhaps the most fun. Again, all of the fixtures (tubs, sinks, decor style) but the family may had some special needs or needed a specially designed shower such that she or could will use the shower in wheelchair and easily help to shift over onto a shower bench at a matching height to the wheelchair. That meant 'generously wide' and with no 'shower dam' to navigate over. Also, for the overall decor of the bathroom, Elaine wanted "solid surface" (Corian type) material for all counter tops and 'wet' wall surfaces and extensive use of glass block. I researched Corning Glass, Inc.'s web site for their product options. These days, most manufacturers have extensive online resources for designers.
Corning had downloadable .dxf/.dwg files which I was able to bring into my own drawing program. Wonderfully, their drawings are mathematically accurate and may be used to produce very accurate layouts for their product.
As the designer/contractor, it was my responsibility to insure that the carpentry base framing, the solid surfacing material and the glass block product all fit together seamlessly. This is an area where a contractor wants no guessing and no mistakes in that all of the building components are very expensive and labor intensive to install. Please note in the following sequence of photos how precisely everything came together for this unique shower assembly.
