Abstract

Several imidazolium-based ionic liquids were prepared and screened as catalysts for the esterification of oleic acid with methanol. The experimental results showed that both the type of anion and the length of alkyl chain in the cation have effects on the catalytic activity of ILs. In all of the ILs investigated, l-decyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate (CiomimHS04) performed the best activity.The esterification of PFAD in the precence of CiomimHS04 was investigated. This catalyst showed good catalytic under mild conditions, the conversion of PFAD could reach 97.82 % after the esterification was c'arried out at 65 "C for 4 h, Futhermore, the catalyst could be reused at least 5 times, showing good operational stability. Thus, C]omimHS04 is a promising catalyst for conversion of high free fatty acid (FFA) feeds to biodiesel.

1. MO DAU

Trong nhihig nam gin diy, chit ldng ion (IL)vdi vai trd xuc tac cho chuyen hda biodieselda thu hiit dugc nhieu su quan tam chii y cua cic nha nghien ciiu. Xuc tae IL cd rit nhieu uu diem vl ky thuat, cdng nghe nhu hogt tinh cao d dilu kien nhiet dg, ap suit thudng; thich hgp vdi hiu hit cac logi nguyen lieu; de tach ra khdi sin pham [1-7]. Hien nay,phan ldn cac xiic tic IL hogt ddng tot d khoang nhi?t dg 130-170 °C vdi ham lugng xiic tac dudi 10

% hoac d khoang nhiet do dudi 100 "C vdi ham lugng xiic tic 20-24% [1-6]. Dilu nay khiln cho gia thanh cua sin phim blodlesel vin cao, chua dap iing y8u cau cdng nghiep.

Vdi muc tieu tim ra mgt logi xiic tic cd hogt tinh cao d khoing nhiet do va ham lugngthip hon, bai bao nay di vao tdng hgp mdt sd IL va sang Igc hoat tinh xiic tic cua chung ddi vdi phan iing este hda.

2. THUC NGHIEM

2.2. Tong hop IL

2.2.1. TdnghcrplL 1-metylimidazolium (HmimX)

2.2.2. Tdng hgp l-ankyl-j-metylimidazolium hydrogen sulfat (C„mimHSO.^

Quy trinh tdng hgp CnmimHSOa gdm 2 giai dogn.

Tdng hgp l-ankyl-3-methyl imidazolium bromid (C„mimBr).

2,2 moi cua 1-bromoankan (1-bromobutan, 1- bromohexan, 1-bromooctan hogc 1-bromodecan) va 2 moi mim dung trong binh ciu dung tich 1000 ml cd lap khuiy tir v i sinh ban. Khuay hdn hgp qua dem d nhiet dg phdng, sau dd khuiy d 60 °C trong 72 gid. Sau phan iing, sin pham dugc nia 3-5 lin bing etyl axetat va siy dudi dung mdi trong tii siy chin khdng d 70 °C dudi ap suit 0,1 Bar.

Trao ddi anion HSO/

2 moi CnmlmBr (vdi n = 4, 6, 8 hoac 10) dugc d\mg trong cdc thuy tinh chju nhiet dung tich 1000 ml v i lim lanh ve 0 °C. Nhd gigt chim 2 moi H2SO4 (98 %) vao CnmimBr. Khuiy hdn hgp phin umg d 0

°C trong 8 gid, sau dd d 80 °C trong 72 gid dl hinh thanh CnmimHS04. Sin phim la cae chit ldng cd mau vang dd, do dim mau va do sanh ciia san pham ting theo chilu tang dd dal mach ankyl.

2.3. Phan ung este hoa axit beo

Phan ling dugc tien hanh trong binh ciu 3 cd dung tich 100 ml cd lip sinh han, nhi?t ke va khuiy tii. Tdc dO khuiy dugc giii khdng ddi (500 vdng/phiit) trong mgl thuc nghi?m.

Hdn hgp sau phin iing dugc lam Ignh ngay ve nhiet do phdng va chuyen sang pheu chiet. Sau khi dl ling, hdn hgp tach thanh 2 pha. Mdt pha giau sin phim metyl este va nguyen lieu du, pha cdn lai giau xiic tac, nude va metanol du. Pha giau san phim metyl este dugc tach rieng va riia vai lan bang nude ndng (70-80 °C) sau dd siy d 110 °C trong 8 gid.

Xuc tac dugc thu hoi va tai sir dung sau khi da loai bd methanol du va nude d 90 °C trong 24 gid dudi ap suit thip (0,1 Bar).

2.4. Phan tich san pham

San phim ciia phan iing este hda dugc xie djnh tri so axit theo tieu chuin ASTM D974. Do chuyen hda nguyen lieu dugc xac dinh theo tn sd axlt ciia nguyen ll?u ban diu vi san pham theo cdng thiic [3, 6].

3. KET QUA VA THAO LUAN

3.1. Sang loc xuc tie JL cho phan ung este boa Qua trinh sang Igc xiic tic dugc thuc hien thdng qua phin iing este hda axlt oleic trong su cd mgt ciia cic IL d nhiet dg 65 °C trong 2 gid vdi ty le moi methanol/oleic = 2, IL chiim 10 % khdi lugng axit.

Cac k8t qua ve dg chuy6n hda axit oleic khi sii dung xue tac IL va gia trj pH cua dung djch IL dugc trinh bay trong bang 2.

Cac IL(4-8) gidng nhau ve anion va chi khac nhau ve dg dai mach ankyl d nhdm the N(l) trong cation. Khi so sanh gia tri pH cac dung dich IL(4-8) ta cd dugc thii tu ting dg axit nhu sau:
