A well-attended meeling of the Bnoth Zion A ociation v. as held in the Zionist Hall la t Tu ~day afternoon.
Adv. M. Oblov. itz pre ided and introduced the lecturer. Rabbi I. vl. Gervis, who chos(' a his subject '·Achad Ha'am-Zioni t and Philosopher." This addressed proved most interesting and informative.
In his introduction Rabbi Genis said to-day more than ever Zioni m should he tudi d and di cussed not only as an ansv.er to . Hitlerism but as an answer to all problems that he~et Je\\ ry throughout the v. orld.
The thorough understanding of Achad Ha' am', philoscph) of Zioni m propounded mor than four decades ago i able to gi' e this answer to Lhe complexities of Jewish life to-day.
The memory of Asher Gim•berg has been perpetuated by the pseudonym with which he signed his articles and as Achad Ha'am, meaning "one of the people.. this great Zionist and philo~opher '·ill e'er he re- m mhered.

On Sunday, 11th in L., a wry interesting lecture was deli, cred to the above ociety in the Old Synagogue by Dr. I. M. Hurwitz on the subject "The 1\Iotives Underlying the Balfour Declaration.·· Dr. Hurwitz dealt chiefly \\ilh the Gentiles' point of 'iew, quoting passages frcm contemporary news- paperSi to empha-.i~e his l:;tatement . During the evening a paper on "The Life of Lord Balfour" was read by Mis' F. Jaffe.
