Green and Sea Point Jewish Guild.
On Wednesday, eptember 26th, the abov ociety held a Succoth ocial in the Com- mittee Room of the Green and ea Point

Mr. A. M. Jackson, President of th Green and ea Point Hebrew Congregation, welcomed the Guild into their new home.

Woolf recited a poem about this Festival,

The meeting ended with the inging of Hatikvah and the ational Anthem.

Cape T own Young Jude·ans.
On Saturday last a Succoth celebration wa held in the Old Shu!, and proved an outslanding succes .
Mr. R. Kotlowitz, peaking on the festival traced briefly the history of the Jewish people from the earliest times to the period of the " uccah"' drawing analogies between events of that time and of to-day. Even in those day the whole nation wa not eager for a real freedom, and there were many who longed for the fleshpots of Egypt.
Jewish life in the Galuth to-day could he compared to a Succah-a temporary ... tructure, which we must be prepared to break down if the need should present itself.
Zionism had as its ideal the building up of a pe:-manent home in Eretz Lsrael and yet there were million who still stood aloof.
During the course of the evening refresh- ments were served and musical and humorous items, suitable to the occa ion, were rendered by members.
The meeting closed with the singing of Lhe Hatikvah, after which a large number of members remained behind to dance the Hora.
Succ.oth Celebration at Sea Point.
The first Succoth celebration for Sea Point Jewish children was held on Saturday la~t
in the Succah of the Green and Sea Point ynagogue. A large number of boys and girls were present.
Mr.
C. Pakter, who presided, delivered a short address. Others who spoke were Rev.P. Rosenberg and Mr. Ziev. Recitations were given by Miss R. Swiel and Miss Wolf.
Mr. I. Mauerberger, representative of the Synagogue Committee thanked the audience for their attendance.

Boys' Own Zionist Society.

Kindergarten Concert.
A delightful Succolh Concert wa given hy the children of the Bnoth Zion Hebrew Kindergarten al the Zionist Hall last Sunday morning. An exquisite little Succah had been erected and the children beautifully conveyed the spirit of the f e ti val by means of ong and dance. The concert was very much enjoyed by all those present and reflects great credit on the teachers.
M uizenberg J ewish Ladies' Sewing Circle.
A very successful Social, under the auspices of the above Society was held on Saturday, 22nd September, at Krikler's Hotel, Muizenberg. Mrs. D. Shames was in the chair.
Rabbi Gervis addressed the audience. He congratulated the Society on the good wqrk they had accomplished in such a short time, and laid stress on the national importance of Jewish societies which do not confine their activities to local matters only.
Mr. Figg proposed a hearty vote of thanks lo Mr. and Mrs. aivas, the ho t and hostess.
During the evening a display of work look place.

The next meeting will take place at the Zionist Hall on Tue day, 9th October, at 3.15 p.m.

A very enjoyable Succoth evening took place at the Zioni t Hall on Thursday evening last under the auspice of the Cape Town Hebrew Circle.

Unfortunately David Vardi and Eva Yoalit were unable to he present, but an

Refre hments were provided by members of the Circle and their friend . "Community singing" was indulged in and the Hatikvah brought the ewning to a close.

"Simchas Torah" Social at Wood- stock.
On Tuesday last a very uccessful Simchas Torah meeting was held in the Talmud Torah Hall, Woodstock, under the auspices of the Woodstock and alt River Junior Society.
Mr. M. Weintroub, who was in the chair, in his opening remarks stressed the neces- sity for unity in the ranks of Zionism, since the seeds of anti-Semitism sown in Germany and disseminated throughout the world, had added to the trials and tribula- tions of world Jewry.
During tht evening the following artists gave musical items, which were much appreciated by the large and enthusiastic audience:

Mr. M. Wolozinsky gave a most interest- ing lecturette on Simchas Torah and the history of our race, which is bright with the triumph of national idealism over apparently insurmountable obstacles.
A Jewish atmosphere was created by the singing of Jewish songs by Master Kassell and the reciting of two of Bialik's poems bv Mr. V. Resnekov.
