Mr. Leibner spoke of ~he difficulties with which the Hebrew language was confronted in Palestine, where people were gathered from all the corners of the world, speaking a multitud of language . It was comparatively ea y to learn to peak the language, but not really to know it. A new ~eb­

Muizenberg Zio.nist Societies.

A function in honour of Capt. 1}\.{. Natas was held on Wednesday, Augu t 2nd, at the Talmud Torah Rall. Mr. E. Levite pre ided. Mr. R.

Oblowitz welcomed Capt. Natas on behalf of the men Zionists and Mrs. R. Jocum on bf)half of the women Zionists.

Caµt. M. Natas related some of his experiences up North. He praised the work of our boys in the army and their spirit of sacrifice. He told of the work the Jewish boys have done for the Jewish refugees.

During the evening a humorous reading was given by Mr. I. Smith, which was very much ap- preciated. Cantor Goldwasser entertained the gathering with somP songs and Mr. Asher read hi.., latest poems. A vote of thanks was moved by Mr.

R. M. Rifkin.

Women's Mizrachi Organisation.

An enjoyable function took place on August 1st at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. M. Levine, Vrede- hoek Avenue. After the chairlad.v, Mrs. Berzack, had welcomed the large gathering, Mr. A. Immer- man rendered songs which were greatly appreciated hv all.

·In the course of an interesting address Rabbi Dr. E. W. Kirzner dwelt on tl10 moral lesson to be derived from the message of 8habbo Nachamu and on the inspiration to be drawn from the ideal of NeC'hamoh embodying hope and faith in the re- storation of Israel and revival of our people in our homeland on the principles of the glorious faith of our fathers.
