PROGRAM EFISIENSI ENERG
Program Eisiensi Bahan Bakar
PT KPC telah mengimplementasikan program eisiensi bahan
bakar (khususnya solar) sejak bulan Maret 2008, yang dilandasi oleh adanya data pemakaian bahan bakar pada kondisi yang tidak produktif.
KPC mengimplementasikan program eisiensi melalui berbagai
cara seperti: pembuatan SOP baru tentang monitoring fuel breather
(penutup saluran pengisian bahan bakar), peningkatan kontrol dan
Utilizing Void (Pond) Water Post-Mining
Telaga Batu Arang, a former mine, was used as recreational pool. For this purpose, several facilities were built at North Sangatta
pool (Telaga Batu Arang) namely: children’s play ground, function hall, gazebos, public toilets, ofice, jetty, jogging track, and ish
cages. 2,000 dragon fruit trees were planted at Telaga Batu Arang in mid-2014, in an intercropping manner with groundnuts. The area for dragon fruit planting uses drip irrigation systems, so that fertilization is also easily controlled. The irrigation system uses water from Telaga Batu Arang pool pumped using electric power from windmills and solar power.
The Study of Ecosystem Restoration Design in Post Mining Area The study was conducted by a team of researchers from the Conservation and Rehabilitation Research and Development Centre of the Department of Forestry. The purpose of this study is to design the layout of post-mining area of PT KPC which has been covered with vegetation in zoning system, and planning the restoration of vegetation in each zone to increase
the functionality and beneits of ecosystem. The study has been
initiated in the fourth quarter of 2008 and continued until 2011.
Zoning implementation in the ield consisted of 5 zones, namely:
protection zone, buffer zone, biodiversity conservation zone, tourism zone and utilization zone.
As a concrete manifestation of the restoration of mined land of KPC in the utilization zone, then on mined land Pit Jupiter is currently being developed three projects that support the restoration of mined land, namely:
• poultry farm in an area of 4 ha, currently the population of laying hens reached 1340 with egg production reached 75%. • provision of land for animal feed through testing corn (2ha)
and soybean crops (0,1 ha).
• the construction of a nursery area (nursery) oil palm area of 5 ha with 55,000 oil palm seedlings.
• Cattle farming of 47 cattlea.
Energy Eficiency Program Fuel Eficiency Program
PT KPC’s Fuel eficiency programs (especially diesel) have
been carried out since March 2008, prompted by data of fuel consumption showing an unproductive condition.
KPC implements the eficiency program through various ways
such as: preparing new SOP on monitoring fuel breathers, improving control and conducting socialization on fuel saving

sosialisasi penghematan bahan bakar dengan cara mematikan mesin yang tidak produktif, pengontrolan status engine run pada truk melalui dispatch dengan melakukan upgrade program pada
dispatch, pembuatan SOP baru berkaitan big digger service untuk mengontrol alat berat saat masuk dan keluar service, pelaksanaan prosedur penyaringan kembali sisa bahan bakar di tangki agar dapat dipakai kembali oleh digger tersebut setelah selesai servis (kidneylooping fuel), pemasangan ill safe system pada excavator
untuk menambah kontrol agar tidak terjadi tumpahan saat proses pengisian bahan bakar ke tangki bahan bakar excavator.
Indikator keberhasilan penghematan bahan bakar dihitung berdasarkan jumlah solar (dalam satuan liter) yang digunakan untuk memindahkan tiap volume (dalam satuan Bcm) over burden (batuan penutup) selama 1 menit cycle time yang ditempuh oleh truk, atau disebut dengan Fuel Ratio = liter/bcm/menit, apabila FR aktual lebih rendah dari FR target project maka penghematan fuel telah berdampak positif terhadap operasional. Jumlah bahan bakar solar yang bisa dihemat selama tahun 2016 sebanyak 9.109 kL.
Program Eisiensi Oli
KPC terdorong untuk melakukan program eisiensi oli dilatarbelakangi
oleh tingginya konsumsi oli sebagai pelumas pada alat berat, harga pelumas baru yang mahal, tingginya jumlah timbulan dan resiko penanganan pelumas bekas yang masuk dalam kategori Limbah B3; dan tingginya down time unit/alat saat servis berkala.
KPC merealisasikan program eisiensi atau penghematan oli dengan
cara mengurangi penggunaan oli pada 56 unit truk CAT 789, dengan detail program sebagai berikut:
• Memperpanjang usia pelumas engine (250 menjadi 500 jam), dengan cara: menaikkan grade oli dari API Service CH-4 menjadi CI-4 Plus, dan menambah kapasitas tanki dari 212 liter menjadi 280 liter.
• Memperpanjang usia pelumas transmisi, hidraulik, inal drive, dan differential (2000 jam menjadi 4000 jam), dengan cara: menaikkan grade oli dari kelas Caterpillar TO-2 menjadi TO-4, dan melakukan penyaringan oli (Kidney looping) setiap 500 jam. • Monitor kondisi oli setiap 500 jam dengan menyediakan on site
lab oil analysis untuk mendapatkan analisis pada hari yang sama.
Dari implementasi hal tersebut pada 56 unit truk CAT 789 diperoleh penghematan oli engine sebesar 34% dan penghematan oli untuk transmisi, hidraulik, inal drive, dan oli differential sebesar 50%. Program tersebut kemudian diterapkan pada unit yang lain seperti truk CAT 785 dan CAT 777.
Program Penghematan Listrik
PT KPC telah memulai program penghematan listrik dalam rangka konservasi energi sejak Triwulan II-2010. Program penghematan listrik bertujuan untuk mengurangi pemakaian listrik yang berlebihan dan tidak sesuai peruntukannya serta inisiatif penghematan listrik lainnya.

The success of the fuel saving program is measured by the amount of diesel fuel (in liters) used to move each volume of overburden (in units Bcm), for 1 minute cycle time by truck, or called Fuel Ratio = liter/bcm/min. When the actual FR was lower than the targeted FR, then the fuel saving has brought a positive impact on operations. Calculation of diesel fuel savings was based on the amount of diesel fuel used for production (the amount of over- burden generated). The amount of diesel fuel that can be saved in 2016 was 9.109 kL.
Oil Eficiency Program
The reason behind KPC’s oil eficiency program is the high
consumption of lubricants for heavy machinery, the expensive price of new lubricant, the high amount and high risk of used oil, which is a toxic and hazardous substance, as well as the high down time unit during periodic maintenance.
KPC conducted an oil eficiency/saving program by reducing use
of oil in 56 CAT-789 trucks, with details of the program as follows: • Extending the life of engine lubricants (from 250 to 500
hours), by raising the oil grade from API Service CH-4 to CI-4 Plus, and enlarging the tank capacity from 212 litres to 280 litres.
• Preserving the transmission, hydraulic, inal drive and
differential oil (from 2,000 hours to 4,000 hours), by raising the oil grade from Caterpillar TO-2 to TO-4, and conducting kidney-looping every 500 hours.
• Monitoring the oil condition every 500 hours by providing on- site lab oil analysis to get the analysis result on the same day.
Implementing the program on 56 units of CAT 789 truck resulted in 34% engine oil saving, and 50% transmission, hydraulics,
inal drive and differential oils saving. The same program will be
applied on other units, such as CAT 785 and CAT 777.
Electricity Saving Program
KPC began the electricity saving program in order to conserve the energy, since the Second Quarter of 2010. This electricity saving program aimed at reducing the excessive and improper power consumption and other electricity-saving initiatives.

Impelementasi program meliputi: pemasangan timer AC pada beberapa gedung kantor, menerbitkan SOP untuk pelayanan camp agar mematikan alat elektronik yang tidak dipakai, pemasangan
photocell switch pada sistem penerangan di workshop dan pabrik (ixed plant), serta secara bertahap mengganti lampu penerangan dengan lampu hemat energi, secara bertahap mengganti AC Window dengan AC Split, mengurangi jumlah lampu di areal parkir yang memiliki penerangan berlebihan, dan kampanye hemat energi listrik. Dari berbagai upaya penghematan listrik di workshop dan kantor tersebut, jumlah energi listrik yang dapat dihemat selama tahun 2016 mencapai 2.409.389 kWH.
