SUCCESS in radiology depends on the perfect functioning of the entire IL' apparatus ensuring complete safety and maximum mechanical precision in the smallest details. In the manufacture and design of the Philips X-Ray machine, quality has always been the focus. When performing this technique in the presence of others, it is also to wear tools and an "HB" zip-up vest in addition to the "HB" shirt, tie and trousers.

RANGE OF CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC ACTIVITY OF THE SULPHONAMIDES
Of the many objections raised by Domagk (1937) and others to the Anglo-American theory, several are worthy of consideration. From the work of Stamp, Green et al, it appears that the bacteriostatic activity of sulfanilamide is determined by the inactivation of some essential constituent or constituents of the bacterial cell. Not without interest is the effect of substitution on chemotherapeutic activity of the sulfanilamide (p-amino benzene sulfonamide) molecule.
SQA NH2
Since writing this review, the most definitive contribution to the action of sulfanilamide has been Woods' discovery of the anti-sulfanilamide effect of p-aminobenzoic acid. Based on these results, it was calculated that one molecule of p-aminobenzoic acid antagonizes 23,000 molecules of sulfanilamide. Furthermore, Selbie (1940) showed in a limited series of mouse experiments that the therapeutic action of sulfanilamide against lethal doses of streptococci was inhibited by the simultaneous administration of p-aminobenzoic acid.

Physiological Effects of Physical Exercises
SPEED EXERCISES
ENDURANCE EXERCISES
In an endurance exercise, the organism has the task of converting the second factor (total duration of time) into a maximum, making it necessary to keep the first factor (amount of work during one unit of time) as low as possible. . We can say that there is a pure endurance exercise if the organism performs: 'A minimum amount of work per (single) time unit during a maximum period of time.' There seems to be no simpler expression or formula possible.
STRENGTH EXERCISES
SKILL EXERCISES
The physiological effect of endurance exercise is markedly different from that of the speed group. We know that proper functioning of the heart depends in large part on an adequate amount of blood in the cavities of the heart. At this time, the previously retained venous blood will quickly fill the right side of the heart.
SUMMARY
34;measurable" conditions, fitness for skill training will be largely related to the rapid and correct reactions of the nervous system and to a "constitutional capacity" for "elastic" or "soft" muscle contraction. In most cases, speed, endurance and even elements of strength are involved to a greater or lesser degree in the various skill exercises, and those various elements contribute their special physiological "color" to the effect of the skill exercise to be performed. 8.—Patrolman George Butler of the Greenburgh Police successfully delivered a baby born to a woman on the relief rolls early yesterday morning while receiving instructions over the police two-way radio system from a doctor who raced to the scene in a police car.
Eleanor Møller, the child's mother, thought so too and named the eight-pound boy John Joseph Butler Møller. Both the editorial and the introductory article by the president of the association constantly refer to the difficulties and faults of the medical course and to the students shaped by it. Another article is devoted to an analysis of the medical course syllabus and there is a letter from three senior doctors.
Without these conditions, a profession that includes many good servants of the community can be greatly harmed. While jealously desirous of preserving the finer aspects of the present practice of medicine, he must be prepared to formulate and strongly support plans for expansion which inevitably involve collective control. By adopting such a policy it is hoped that such inadequate schemes as the recently proposed National Health Insurance Scheme may be avoided and that the schemes developed will not lead to a repetition of the uneducable dispute of 11/-.
Schemes for medical reform must be intertwined with general schemes for reforming community life, such as slum clearance and raising the basic wage, and must not involve shameful attacks on the profession.

S.S. Notes
The holding of the Association's annual general meeting was first postponed and later postponed. This was due firstly to the illness of the secretary, "Sandy" Ferguson, who has now recovered but is unable to resume his studies this year, and secondly to college politics, a special general meeting coinciding with the time proposed by us. At the outbreak of the scar many of us - you could almost say the majority - were.
To clarify the situation, speeches were made late last year by the D.D.M.S. – Colonel Shaw – and at the beginning of this year by the Dean of the Faculty – Professor MacCallum. We would like to thank these gentlemen for their wise compassion, which has been of the greatest value to us throughout the year. A Medical Training Corps has been formed from the last three years of the course, mainly due to the efforts of Harry Ireland.
The three pre-clinical years have formed a First Aid Cass, which is an integral part of the organization for Civil Defence. Although reports have not been made public, it is understood that the martyrdom was not in vain and that the information obtained was such as to justify a continuation of the experiment on a larger scale. It is interesting to note that a similar group in Adelaide was at the same time engaged in an investigation of the Puckapunyal throat.
The profits went to the Red Cross, and the support of this organization was the incentive for the production of the first medleys in the last war.
The Problem of Malnutrition
They looked for the causes of the situation in Australia and found them to be ignorance and poverty. Some general characteristics, some good and some undesirable, apply to the diet of lower income groups. Thus, the disadvantage of high consumption of cereals is eliminated by using whole grain forms, which have both a high economic index and a considerable "protective value".
In fact, milk is one of the most economical foods available, as it is not only a good source of animal proteins, fats and carbohydrates, but is also rich in calcium, phosphorus and vitamins A, B1 and B2. Whole grains and milk should be two of the staples of the low-cost diet. Three pounds of potatoes a week will provide about one-fifth of a man's complete vitamin C needs, according to the Stiebeling's Standard.
When composing a diet, certain amounts of each group are selected to meet the total needs of the individual. The total amount of each group is shown in parentheses, and below that the amounts of the various members of the group selected are listed. To achieve the increased value for vitamin A, an extra source of the vitamin such as cod liver oil would have to be added to the diets shown in table 1 for the two youngest age levels.
From these considerations, it can be concluded that poverty or low income does not take the second place as a cause of malnutrition present in the community.

A Mission Hospital on the Plains of North India
Therefore, the biological and salt content of foods prepared from soil products is low. We recently had a major upset because we insisted that the nurse attending a midwife's case do the first wash of blood stained clothes. I've seen them steal food right out of the pan as soon as it's cooked.
I'll give you an idea of the kind of work we have to do. One of the most fascinating aspects of working in this country is the lab work. Then there is the usual course of events: glands in the neck (which are very common), malignant breasts, hysterectomies, amputations, intestinal obstructions, etc.
These women - called stage - have no concept of cleanliness or of the birthing process. The time has come to write down the doings of the second-year medical student. We hear that some girls have benefited greatly from a series of informal lectures by Mr.
And in keeping with the architectural dignity, the arrival of the fourth year in a fleet of Packards under the auspices of Mr.
Effect of Gravity on the Respiratory System
At the level of the carotid sinus, the general rule will therefore be reduction of pressure in the upright posture with consequent respiratory stimulation. This increased ventilation leads to lowering of the alveolar and arterial CO2 levels giving alkalemia. Lower oxygen tension quickly leads to unconsciousness, and breathing stops due to paralysis of the respiratory center.
This lack of circulatory compensation is probably due to the peripheral dilation mentioned above, since the vasoconstrictor center is quite resistant to lack of oxygen. d) The digestive system may be disturbed, due to anoxemia of the C.N.S. with the level of reflexes changed. Alkalemia is compensated by renal excretion of a more alkaline urine and retention of non-volatile acids in the blood as the decreased concentration of carbonate ions requires an increase in other anions such as chloride and phosphate to maintain neutrality. The lower level of CO.4 reduces the tendency of hemoglobin to split it, reducing the efficiency of red blood cells.
Kopra considers that the limiting factors in high altitude exercise have to do with internal respiration and heart capacity. However, the adipose tissues of the body are relatively avascular, so in fact their degree of saturation is less than that of other tissues. Bubbles cause blockage of blood vessels, especially in the C.N.S., at the junction of the white and gray matter of the spinal cord.
This gives rise to pain in the joints or other parts, paralysis of the legs, or in severe cases can cause death within minutes.
