Submissions for endorsement event 2 and changes to the amendment process

Purpose

To tell schools about:

• key dates and submission process for endorsement event 2

• a new process for requesting an amendment to endorsed assessment from Term 4, 2022.

Background

Endorsement is an annual quality assurance process based on the validity and accessibility attributes of quality assessment. It is applied to summative internal assessment instruments for Essential (Applied) and all General subjects, including General (Extension) subjects.

Endorsement ensures that items used to develop assessment instruments:

• are fit for purpose

• provide contexts that are accessible to all learners.

Submission process

Within the Endorsement application, school staff may:

• access and edit assessment instrument templates, as soon as the subject offering has been entered into the Student Management application

• check due dates in the submissions tab

• submit assessment instruments for an event (Submitter role only) at any time between the submission’s opening and due dates

• recall, update and resubmit assessment instruments submitted during this period (these options are removed on the due date).

If any school does not submit all assessment instruments by the due date for Application 1:

• they forfeit this application

• instruments for the missing subjects will be assigned to a lead endorser for Application 2

• consultation for Application 2 will not be available to schools that are submitting for the first time

• both new subject offerings and assessment instruments that were not reviewed at endorsement event 1 will be required to adhere to the endorsement event 2 timelines.

Amendments to endorsed assessment instruments

If, after a task has been endorsed, a school wishes to amend the task before it is administered with the cohort of students, the school may request approval from the QCAA for an amendment.

An amendment is not to be used as an adjustment for access arrangements and reasonable adjustments (AARA), nor to cater for students who were absent at the time of assessment.

Schools are allowed only one application to amend an endorsed assessment instrument. If the amendment cannot be supported by the QCAA, the school must administer the original

summative internal assessment instrument that was endorsed.

From 31 October, schools will be able to initiate a request for an amendment to their endorsed assessment instrument from within the Endorsement application.

Schools open the endorsed assessment’s template from inside the Endorsement application, to access the link Modify the endorsed assessment. To apply, schools:

• select the reason for the amendment

• develop, approve and submit the proposed amended assessment instrument

• upload any relevant materials (e.g. marking schemes or stimulus).

Please allow at least 2 weeks for the lead endorser to review and approve your application.

See the quick steps guide, available from the Help link in the Endorsement application, for help with requesting an amendment.

In an emergent situation, please contact the Quality Assurance Unit to discuss possible actions and timelines.
