BACKGROUND:
Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ) is a multi-disciplinary academic institute of Brac University, which promotes global peace and social justice through quality education, research, training and advocacy. CPJ is committed to identifying and promoting sustainable and inclusive solutions to a wide range of global concerns and issues, including fragility, conflict and violence.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
CPJ is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Project Manager to coordinate and oversee different project implementation under the Refugee Studies Unit (RSU) in Cox’s Bazar. The position will work closely with different teams and units of CPJ.
SCOPE OF WORK:
Project Design, Implementation and Coordination
• Oversee all general project implementation strategies for the RSU;
• Mapping of project scope and design project initiatives considering the needs of project beneficiaries and stakeholders;
• Liaise closely with project consultants, trainers, donors and other stakeholders related to the projects’
implementations and research works;
• Design a feasible yet ambitious initiative that effectively works towards the projects’ goals;
• Developing implementation schedule, budget allocation and team structure;
• Bare responsibility for all aspects of the project cycle from design through to completion and handover to the respective authorities;
• Coordinate project activities with head office and travel to the field to manage teams and attend major events;
Supervision, Monitoring and Mentoring
• Manage and supervise day-to-day operational aspects of project activities;
• Facilitate the monitoring, evaluation and learning processes achieving project goals and objectives;
• Mentor, manage and coordinate project teams including volunteers, staff and consultants ensuring timely outputs;
Financial Management, Audit and Reporting
• Manage projects’ budgets and auditing in line with appropriate Brac University policies, procedures, and guidelines;
• Ensure donor reports other deliverable for the projects;
Liaison with Partners, Donors and Media
• Ensure projects’ progress are properly and regularly communicated with donors, partners and other stakeholders like CIC, RRRC, DC offices and other relevant government agencies and media;
Partnership Development and Fund Raising
• Develop cohesive partnerships and collaborations with local NGOs and negotiate with logistics suppliers;
• Coordinate and collaborate with Government and Humanitarian Agencies in Cox’s Bazar;
• Represent CPJ and RSU in the different national and international forums like ISCG, CwC, APPAP and UN agencies;
• Actively participate in fund raising for organisation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
• Strong drive and resilience;
• Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines;
• Knowledge of best practices for project implementation;
• Must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communication and interpersonal skills;
• Must be a creative and strategic thinker with good judgment and ability to make independent decisions in a changing environment;
• Ability to build strong relationships and influence people at all levels;
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills;
• Ability to manage time, deliverables and meet deadlines;
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure with tight deadlines; and
• A willingness to see things through to the end and be results oriented.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Education: Post-graduation degree from any reputable and recognised University in Bangladesh and/or abroad;
• Experience: Minimum 7 years of relevant project management experience. Work experience in Rohingya camp is an added value; and
• Specific Requirement: English proficiency for both verbal and written. Knowledge of local culture and language will add value to the work.
