AN ANALYSIS OF SWEARING WORD TRANSLATIONS IN THE TRANSFORMERS 3 MOVIE

Abstract
This study discussed about the analysis of the translation of swearing word in the Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon movie from English to Indonesia. This study was aimed to answer these research questions, “What are the swearing words found in the English to Indonesian subtitle of the Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon movie?” The second one is “What are the types of translation procedures that translator used to translate swearing word in Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon movie?” In attempting to answer the research questions, the study used qualitative method. The research data were obtained from the English to Indonesian subtitle of the Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon movie. The result of the study revealed that there are 53 swearing words that were found in the movie. The study also revealed from 15 types of translation procedure proposed by Newmark (Newmark in Ordudari, 2007) there are only 7 types of translation procedure that were used by translator in translating the swearing words found in the movie. This finding is also supported by the idea from Jensen (2009).
