ABSTRACT
This research was aimed at finding out the correlation between Indonesian passive voice mastery and English passive voice mastery of the third semester of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto in 2012/2013 academic year.
The subject of this research was the third semester students of English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. There were 150 students in four classes. The writer used random technique in taking sample and got 35 students. For collecting the data, the writer gave Indonesian passive voice test and English passive voice test. To measure the test, the writer used validity and reliability to know the result of the data. The writer used the correlation product moment to know the relationship between Indonesian and English passive voice.
Based on data calculation, it showed that the obtained rxy is 0.693, while r table is 0.334. if the obtained is higher than r table, it shows a positive result of the data, so there is a possitive correlation between Indonesian passive voice mastery and English passive voice mastery. The students who have a good mastery on Indonesian passive voice will also have a good mastery on English passive voice. On the contrary, the students whose Indonesian passive voice mastery is poor, their English passive voice mastery is poor.
