Introduction of oneself is practically mandatory for a person when he/she meet someone new, or he/she has never met before.

- Good morning/afternoon/night
- Hello, my name is… nice to meet you
- Please allow me to introduce myself
Example of informal greeting/introduction:
- Hi!
- Howdy!
- Long time no see!
The appropriate response for greetings/introductions:
- I’m great, thank you
- Yes, good day to you too
- Wow, it really has been a while - I’m fine, how about you?
Introducing other people
Expressions used when introducing a friend to your other friend:
- Hey, I’d like you to meet my friend - There is someone I’d like you to
meet
- You two should know each other,
- Hey, here is my friend, have you
two met?
1. Introduce yourself in front of
the class using given
expressions,
2. Respond to greetings given by one of your friends,
3. Introduce one of your friend to the whole class.
