Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya beberapa istilah pendidikan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diserap dari bahasa Arab. Keberadaan istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut berkaitan dengan berbagai aspek pendidikan yang meliputi: fungsi dan tujuan pendidikan, pendidik, peserta didik, aktifitas pendidikan, materi pendidikan, metode pendidikan, sarana pendidikan, lingkungan pendidikan, waktu pendidikan, tempat pendidikan, jenjang pendidikan dan evaluasi pendidikan. Istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut belum diketahui maknanya secara filosofis oleh masyarakat Indonesia pada umumnya, dan kalangan para praktisi pendidikan secara khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menyingkap makna-makna istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut berdasarkan teori semantik dan leksikografi. Adapun yang menjadi objek penelitian ini adalah 100 istilah pendidikan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diserap dari bahasa Arab. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan model analisis isi. Sedangkan landasan teori yang digunakan adalah teori semantik yang meliputi makna leksikal, medan makna, relasi makna dan perkembangan makna. Hasil temuan dari penelitian adalah: (1) dari segi makna leksikal, ditemukan adanya perkembangan makna dari makna asal menjadi makna istilah; (2) dari segi medan maknanya, dilihat dari medannya, terdapat maujud, ahdats, dan mujarrad. Sedangkan dari segi hubungannya, terdapat juzun, kullun, isytimal, na’u, dan tanafur; (3) dari segi relasi maknanya, ada istilah yang memiliki mutaradif, furuq, mutadhad, dan musytarak, dan ada pula yang tidak memiliki; (4) dari segi perkembangan maknanya, ada makna yang berkembang dengan bentuk menyempit, meluas, meningkat, berubah penggunaanya menjadi majaz dan ada yang tidak berkembang. Hasil analisis terhadap istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut memiliki implikasi yang signifikan dalam pembuatan kamus istilah pendidikan. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini adalah hendaklah para lembaga, pakar, praktisi bahasa dan pendidikan memiliki perhatian penuh terhadap istilah-istilah pendidikan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diserap dari bahasa Arab agar makna-maknanya terungkap secara filosofis sehingga tidak terjadi kekeliruan dalam penggunaannya.

Thesis Title : Semantic Analysis of Education Terms in Indonesian absorbed from Arabic lexicography and Implications

This research has been motivated by some of the terms in the Indonesian education absorbed from Arabic. The education terms relate to various aspects of education which includes: the function and purpose of education, the educators, the learners, the activities of education, the materials of education, the methods of education, the facilities of education, the environment of education, the time of education, the place of education, the levels of education, and the evaluation of education. The meaning of the terms has not known yet philosophically by Indonesian society in general, especially the education practitioners. This study aims to determine and to reveal the meanings of the education terms based on semantic theory and lexicography. The object of this study was a hundred of education terms in Indonesian, which are absorbed from Arabic. The method which is used in this research is descriptive qualitative by content analysis model. While the theoretical basis which is used is semantic theory, that includes lexical meaning, meaning field, the relation of the meaning, and the meaning of development. The findings of the study were: (1) in terms of lexical meaning, it has been found the development of the meaning, from the original meaning into the terminology meaning; (2) in term of the terrain of the meaning, based on the its terrain, there are maujud,

ahdats, and mujarrad . Whereas in terms of its relationship, there are juzun , kullun , isytimal

and tanafur; (3) in terms of meaning relations, there are some terms that have mutaradif, furuq

mutadhad, and musytarak, and another ones do not have them; (4) in terms of the development

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya beberapa istilah pendidikan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diserap dari bahasa Arab. Keberadaan istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut berkaitan dengan berbagai aspek pendidikan yang meliputi: fungsi dan tujuan pendidikan, pendidik, peserta didik, aktifitas pendidikan, materi pendidikan, metode pendidikan, sarana pendidikan, lingkungan pendidikan, waktu pendidikan, tempat pendidikan, jenjang pendidikan dan evaluasi pendidikan. Istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut belum diketahui maknanya secara filosofis oleh masyarakat Indonesia pada umumnya, dan kalangan para praktisi pendidikan secara khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menyingkap makna-makna istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut berdasarkan teori semantik dan leksikografi. Adapun yang menjadi objek penelitian ini adalah 100 istilah pendidikan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diserap dari bahasa Arab. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan model analisis isi. Sedangkan landasan teori yang digunakan adalah teori semantik yang meliputi makna leksikal, medan makna, relasi makna dan perkembangan makna. Hasil temuan dari penelitian adalah: (1) dari segi makna leksikal, ditemukan adanya perkembangan makna dari makna asal menjadi makna istilah; (2) dari segi medan maknanya, dilihat dari medannya, terdapat maujud, ahdats, dan mujarrad. Sedangkan dari segi hubungannya, terdapat juzun, kullun, isytimal, na’u, dan tanafur; (3) dari segi relasi maknanya, ada istilah yang memiliki mutaradif, furuq, mutadhad, dan musytarak, dan ada pula yang tidak memiliki; (4) dari segi perkembangan maknanya, ada makna yang berkembang dengan bentuk menyempit, meluas, meningkat, berubah penggunaanya menjadi majaz dan ada yang tidak berkembang. Hasil analisis terhadap istilah-istilah pendidikan tersebut memiliki implikasi yang signifikan dalam pembuatan kamus istilah pendidikan. Rekomendasi dari penelitian ini adalah hendaklah para lembaga, pakar, praktisi bahasa dan pendidikan memiliki perhatian penuh terhadap istilah-istilah pendidikan dalam bahasa Indonesia yang diserap dari bahasa Arab agar makna-maknanya terungkap secara filosofis sehingga tidak terjadi kekeliruan dalam penggunaannya.

Thesis Title : Semantic Analysis of Education Terms in Indonesian absorbed from Arabic lexicography and Implications

This research has been motivated by some of the terms in the Indonesian education absorbed from Arabic. The education terms relate to various aspects of education which includes: the function and purpose of education, the educators, the learners, the activities of education, the materials of education, the methods of education, the facilities of education, the environment of education, the time of education, the place of education, the levels of education, and the evaluation of education. The meaning of the terms has not known yet philosophically by Indonesian society in general, especially the education practitioners. This study aims to determine and to reveal the meanings of the education terms based on semantic theory and lexicography. The object of this study was a hundred of education terms in Indonesian, which are absorbed from Arabic. The method which is used in this research is descriptive qualitative by content analysis model. While the theoretical basis which is used is semantic theory, that includes lexical meaning, meaning field, the relation of the meaning, and the meaning of development. The findings of the study were: (1) in terms of lexical meaning, it has been found the development of the meaning, from the original meaning into the terminology meaning; (2) in term of the terrain of the meaning, based on the its terrain, there are maujud,

ahdats, and mujarrad . Whereas in terms of its relationship, there are juzun , kullun , isytimal

and tanafur; (3) in terms of meaning relations, there are some terms that have mutaradif, furuq
