Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif penggunaan komunikasi bagi dokter dan pasien hemodialisa, mengetahui pemaknaan komunikasi bagi dokter dan pasien hemodialisa, serta mengetahui bagaimana tindakan komunikasi yang terjadi antara dokter dan pasien hemodialisa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Peneliti menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan studi literatur dalam pengumpulan data.
Hasil penelitian ini adalah motif penggunaan komunikasi bagi dokter dan pasien hemodialisa adalah motif mencari informasi, motif menyampaikan informasi, motif membuat rasa nyaman, serta motif menanggapi lawan bicara. Para informan memaknai komunikasi secara berbeda-beda. Ada yang menganggapnya sebagai penyampaian suatu maksud, alat untuk bertanya, maupun pembicaraan dua arah. Mayoritas informan lebih memilih melakukan komunikasi verbal dibandingkan komunikasi nonverbal dalam tindakan komunikasi antara dokter dan pasien hemodialisa.
Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat empat motif komunikasi antara dokter dan pasien Hemodialisa, informan memaknai komunikasi secara berbeda-beda, serta mayoritas informan menganggap bahwa komunikasi nonverbal kurang memiliki manfaat. Saran yang coba Peneliti berikan ialah agar dokter dan pasien meningkatkan kualitas dan waktu berkomunikasi, serta memaksimalkan komunikasi nonverbal yang dapat terjadi dalam proses pengobatan.

The purposes of this research are to know the motives of communication usage for doctor and hemodialysis patients, to know the meaning of communication for doctor and hemodialysis patients, and to know how the action of communication between doctor and hemodialysis patients. This research uses Qualitative Method with Phenomenology Approach. The researcher uses in-depth interview, observation, and literature study in collecting data.
The results of this research are many motives of communication usage for doctor and hemodialysis patients, such as looking for information, delivering information, making situation more comfortable, and responding the other person. The informants gave different meanings of communication: the process to deliver some thoughts, the tool of inquire, or the process of two way communication. The majority of informants were more likely to use verbal communication more than nonverbal communication in the action of communication between doctor and hemodialysis patients.
The conclusions of this research are: there are four motives of communication usage between doctor and Hemodialysis patients, the informants gave different meanings of communication, and the majority of informants were more likely to use verbal communication more than nonverbal communication. This research recommends that doctor and hemodialysis patients should increase the quality and period time communicate, and maximize nonverbal communication in the medication process.
