Abstract
Indonesia is a country with diverse cultures. The diverse cultures can be used as a tourist attraction that attract tourists. One of the culture that can be dipotential as a tourist attraction is the batik. Batik is known as a result of the cultural heritage that has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of Indonesia in 2009. The development of batik as a tourism attraction begins with the introduction of batik as a souvenir, the establishment of a museum of batik and batik tourist village in which there is learning batik. The development of batik business into a tourist attraction involves the role of government. Government is the institution that plays an important role for the development of batik as a tourist attraction. This study describes how the role of government Salatiga (in this case Disperindagkop and tourism department Salatiga) to determine the extent of the role played by the employers to make batik batik as a tourist attraction. This study focuses on the role of government Salatiga through stimulation of business development and entrepreneurship.
