Abstract
Local community-based tourism development is now becoming one of the Indonesian
government’s programs in tourism regarding the potentials. Indeed, rural tourism can hopefully bring
positive impacts to local communities. Dewi Sri Village tourism is one of rural tourism in Semarang District. Hence, Dewi Sri Village has met the standards and requirements set up by the goverming becoming a village tourism. By having Pokdarwis as an internal organization, local community is becoming both the object and subject in tourism development. So this paper will explain the role of Pokdarwis as an internal organization on local community-based tourism development in Dewi Sri Village Tourism.
This paper used a qualitative desctiptive method. Focus of the research is Pokdarwis as internal organization, local community, and organization committee.The finding revealed that the role of Pokdarwis has not been optimal as an internal organization because it has not been able to solve problems so far. The local people have not got real impacts since the number of tourists is still low. Consequently, the role of local community will not be optimal as well. In addition, the lack of experience and knowledge about tourism also impacted both local communities and Pokdarwis.
