the K atulam pa sluice gate to exceed norm allevels.

H ead of K atulam pa gate A ndi S udirm an said the w ater levels had risen to m ore than 50

centim eters on S unday m orning.

"W e're rem aining on guard to m onitor the situation," said A ndi as quoted by A ntara.

K atulam pa gate haids a w ater debit th at flow s into the C iliw ung R iver, w hich crosses Jakarta

before flow ing to the sea. A high w ater debit at the gate usually cau ses overflow s in several

areas of the capital.

A ndi advised residents living on the banks of the C iliw ung R iver in Jakarta to rem ain alert as
