Description:
This course provides students with basic knowledge of theory and practice of translating in literary works that can lead to their understanding and skills in functioning as translators. Therefore, the course will focus on skills development in text-specific and genre-specific.
Goals:
By the end of the course students will have
1. The knowledge of literature as a genre of text
2. The knowledge of and skills in translation techniques for literary works
Contents:
Review of translating theory Read short stories
Translating short stories Read poems

Prerequisite: Practice and Theory of Translating, Translating. Prescribe books:
Saint-Exupéry. A. (1943) The Little Prince. English Version translated by Howard, R. (2009)
Evaluation:
Assessment 1 : Classroom participation (20%) Assessment 2 : Review of learnings (35%)
Assessment 3 : Translation products (45%) to be submitted at the end of the course.
Grading:
Please keep in mind the following scale:
85 - 100 = A Exceptional work (student exceeds expectations ) 75 – 84 = B Very good work; above average
65 – 74 = C Average work; at grade level (student meets expectations )
55 - 64 = D Below average
< 45 = E Work fails to meet minimum standards
