SINTESIS DAN KARAKTERISASI POLIURETAN ALAM MELALUI POLIMERISASI TOLUENA DIISOSIANAT (TDI) DENGAN
LIGNIN ISOLAT DARI SERBUK KAYU JATI (Tectona Grandis L.f.) DAN
POLIETILEN GLIKOL

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NATURAL POLYURETHANE BY POLYMERIZATION OF TOLUENE DIISOCYANATE (TDI) USING
LIGNIN ISOLATE OF TEAK POWDER (Tectona Grandis L.f.) AND POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL
ABSTRACT
Polyurethane was a polymer material containing functional group urethane (-NHCOO-) in its molecule chain. The functional groups formed as a result of the
reaction between isocyanate groups and hydroxy groups. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of lignin isolates from teak wood powder on the structure of the polyurethane produced. The materials used were a combination of polyols consisting of synthesis polyol, namely polyethylene glycol 1000 (PEG) and natural polyols, namely lignin isolates from teak sawdust. Some characterization performed on the experimental product such as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) for identification of functional groups, polyurethane surface morphology was observed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and the thermal properties were analyzed by Diffrential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC). The occurred polymerization determined by identifying the functional groups of polyurethane by using FT-IR showing presence of NH peak, CN absorption peak, and CO peak which showing the formation of polyurethane occured.
