Suraya comes from a very poor family. Her parents passed away when she was 7 years old. She had to live with her grandmother in a small village. Suraya helped her to sell nasi lemak and doughnuts by the roadside.
One day, Suraya`s grandmother fell sick and could not make the doughnuts and nasi lemak. She was worried because she did not have enough money to take her grandmother for treatment. She prayed to God to help her.
She sat by the river thinking of what to do. Suddenly, she heard a loud cry for help. She saw a little boy drowning in the river. She quickly jumped into the river and pulled him to the river bank.

KUALA LUMPUR --- 1500 pupils of SK Pekan Nilam made a success in the Charity Carnival to raise funds for their school. There were more than 25 stalls selling food, drinks, handicrafts, and books. Visitors, both young and old, took the opportunity to see the wide variety of items on sale.
Teachers and pupils worked together to earn as much profit as they can while being entertained by other pupils performing modern songs, traditional dance and cultural activities. During the carnival, the pupils experienced the ups and downs of business. However, the profit they made was well worth the effort.
The money collected would go towards the school’s Parent-Teacher Association fund. It will be used to equip the classrooms in the new school block with smart boards.
