ABSTRACT
The thesis is entitled Translation Methods Used In Translating Terence Blacker’s Story Book In Control, Ms Wiz? into Semua Terkendali,
Ms Wiz? by Rosi L.Simamora. It has two objectives. First, it is aimed at
finding out the translation method used in the story book In Control, Ms Wiz? which is translated into Semua Terkendali, Ms Wiz?. Second, it is aimed at finding out the reasons of the methods that are used in translating the story book.
Documentation method and sampling was used in collecting the data. The data collected were analyzed by reading the both versions of the story book, classifying each sentence according to the translation methods and explaining why the sentences are included into each translation method.
There are 125 out of 507 sentences in the story book In Control, Ms
Wiz? into Semua Terkendali, Ms Wiz?. The translation methods which are
used in translating In Control, Ms Wiz? into Semua Terkendali, Ms Wiz?
story book are: word for word translation (24,8%), literal translation (20,8%), faithful translation (3,2%), semantic translation (10,4%), free translation (39,2%), and communicative translation (1,6%).
