Author biography
INFORMATION
Leonard J. Hopper, FASLA, is the Chief Landscape Architect and head of the New York City Housing Authority's Landscape Architecture division. Len is responsible for approximately 2600 acres of open space at over 350 housing developments throughout New York City. He is also a faculty member at the City College School of Architecture and Environmental Studies where for 12 years he has taught the technology sequence courses in the Urban Landscape Architecture Program. Len is a former president of the American Society of Landscape Architects and he is a frequent speaker at universities and conferences, most recently on the topic of security in the landscape. Len received his BSLA from the City College of New York in 1974 and his Masters in Urban Design from the City University of New York in 1991.
