English is a compulsory subject that every person must take as a student of the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at politeknik Negeri Banjarmasin. Reference regarding the material given to students must be clear so that they can benefit from this course. To find out these references, a need analysis is needed students get the material they really need to support process learn them at this time (now-oriented) or in the future (future-oriented).
This research was conducted to analyze the needs of English learners. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach and descriptive method. The research population is a student currently taking an English course in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Politeknik Negeri Banjarmasin.
The research instrument used a observation, interview, and documentary. The result showed that the needs of students Non-English study program against ESP English courses are very diverse it can be concluded that they needs they are current, but also for the sake of work later.
Therefore it is recommended that ESP English teachers or parties
concerned can accommodate the needs of students, and always do need analysis because the needs of ESP learners are always changing.

Kata kunci: Bahasa Inggris ESP, analisis kebutuhan, kebutuhan pembelajar Bahasa Inggris merupakan mata pelajaran wajib yang wajib diikuti oleh
setiap orang sebagai mahasiswa fakultas Teknik Mesin di Politeknik Negeri Banjarmasin. Referensi mengenai materi yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa harus jelas agar mereka dapat memperoleh manfaat dari mata kuliah ini. Untuk mengetahui referensi tersebut, diperlukan analisis kebutuhan siswa mendapatkan materi yang sangat mereka butuhkan untuk mendukung proses belajar mereka saat ini (sekarang berorientasi) atau di masa yang akan datang (berorientasi masa depan).
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan pembelajar bahasa Inggris. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa yang sedang mengambil mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris Jurusan Teknik Mesin Politeknik Negeri Banjarmasin.
Instrumen penelitian menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan mahasiswa Program Studi Non Bahasa Inggris terhadap mata kuliah ESP English sangat beragam sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kebutuhan mereka saat ini juga untuk kepentingan pekerjaan nantinya.
Oleh karena itu, ESP disarankan untuk para guru atau pesta bahasa Inggris yang bersangkutan dapat mengakomodir kebutuhan peserta didik, dan
selalu melakukan analisis kebutuhan karena kebutuhan peserta didik ESP selalu berubah.
