Abstract
The coverage of sago forest which grows in different growing phases causes difficulties to predict the land size of the sago forest, the number of trees that are ready to be cut down, and the amount of production. This following research uses the Method of Exhaustion to analyze the supplication of sago land area so that we can identify how much source of crops and housing that can be produced to sustain the life of the society in West Halmahera. The result of this research indicates that there is a coverage land size of sago forest as much as 6.440.000 m2, and thus can built as many as 2.707-6.317 houses of 5m x 6m in size, 2.503-5.842 houses as big as 6m x 6m, and also
1.502-3.505 houses that have a size of 10m x 10m. Apart from it, the coverage of sago forest can sustain food supply as long as 6-10 years.
