1301050112 ABSTRACT
Considering the important of feedback in improving speaking skill, the researcher conducted a research that aimed at finding out the type of feedback that students preferred the most and the reason of it. This research belonged to survey descriptive method. It involved 88 participants from the fourth semester of English Education Department of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The researcher distributed questionnaire to find out the type of feedback that students preferred the most and was supported by interview to find out the reason of it. The data obtained from the two data collection techniques was divided to quantitative data analysis technique for questionnaire and qualitative data analysis technique for interview. It is figured out that students mostly preferred informational feedback than affective feedback especially recast strategy that reached 81.60%
which was functioned to reformulate students’ utterances. It was because it could
help them to remember the right form of their error. While in affective feedback, students mostly preferred receiving suggestion that reached 84.31%. It was because it could help them to have better performances.
