The task
Please ensure that you write your student number in the space provided on the front cover(s) of the script book(s) and on the guided notetaking sheet.
You should respond to the task in the script book(s) provided. There are three parts to the task.
Part 1: Reading Part 2: Listening Part 3: Reorganisation
Refer to pages 2 and 3 for detailed instructions. You should respond to the task in INDONESIAN. At the end of the task
Place all other used script books and the guided notetaking sheet inside the front cover of the first script book.
You may retain this task book.

Specific instructions to students
You will find specific instructions for the task together with one or two written passages in INDONESIAN on the following pages. The material is related in topic and may include visual material such as diagrams or tables.
You may take notes at any time during the two hour writing period.
Part 1: Reading (20 minutes)
You will have twenty minutes to read the passages and take notes, referring to a dictionary if you wish.
Part 2: Listening (20 minutes)
You will have twenty minutes, including two minutes of preparation time, to complete this part of the task. You should read the guided notetaking sheet provided before listening to the passage. Any notes written on this sheet should be placed inside the front cover of the first script book; credit may be given for information relevant to the task which is recorded there but not conveyed in the piece of writing produced to complete the task.
You will hear a recorded passage in INDONESIAN which will add to the information provided in Part 1. The passage will involve at least two voices, one male and one female. It will be played three times, with a pause of one minute between each playing.
Part 3: Reorganisation (80 minutes)
You will have eighty minutes to complete the task using the oral, written and, where included, the visual resources provided, notes made while reading and listening, and your dictionary. Use only information from the material provided to complete the task in approximately 250–300 words.

Sebagai seorang siswa pertukaran yang sedang mempelajari Ilmu Lingkungan Hidup di SMU V Bandung, dan mendukung perlindungan lingkungan hidup dengan sepenuh hati, Anda prihatin memikirkan tentang cara yang terbaik supaya cita-cita ini tercapai. Anda memutuskan untuk menulis sebuah surat kepada Redaksi Utama majalah TEMPO Indonesia dengan menekankan akan perlunya untuk mempertimbangkan dengan sangat hati-hati semua isu yang terlibat.
Untuk menolong Anda menulis surat ini, Anda menggunakan informasi yang sudah Anda kumpulkan dari rekaman wawancara, artikel di buletin sekolah, sari dari makalah tertulis konperensi dan grafik. Surat ini seharusnya berjumlah 250 sampai 300 kata.

TASK
As a secondary school student, on exchange in Indonesia, studying Environmental Sciences at SMU V Bandung and committed to environmental protection, you have a number of concerns about how best this can be achieved. You decide to write a letter to the editor of the Indonesian magazine, Tempo, emphasising the need to consider very carefully all the issues involved.
To help you write the letter you use the information you have gathered from a taped interview, an article from a school newsletter, an extract from a conference paper and a statistical graph. The letter should be 250–300 words in length.
You must include twelve points of information in your letter; five from the taped interview, five from the written and visual materials, and two additional points common to both the oral and written materials. You must only use the information provided.
Part 1: Reading (20 minutes)
You will have twenty minutes to read the passages and take notes, referring to a dictionary if you wish.

Indonesia perlu sebuah kebijakan Lingkungan
Hidup yang bertanggung jawab
Memburuknya polusi udara
di Indonesia adalah soal yang
penting. Mungkin ada
kepercayaan bahwa kenaikan
tingkat polusi udara biasanya
terjadi bersama dengan
perkembangan ekonomi.
Tidak dapat disangkal bahwa
kebanyakan negara maju di
dunia mempunyai soal
polusi. Walaupun begitu,
negara-negara maju sudah
berusaha untuk mengurangi
polusi udara mereka, dan
usaha mereka ini sudah
cukup berhasil. Fakta-fakta
ini adalah bukti bagi kita
bahwa pengurangan polusi
udara itu dapat dikerjakan
dengan cukup mudah.
Sikap acuh tak acuh yang
terus-menerus akan
mempunyai akibat buruk
untuk semua bangsa. Kita
sudah mengalami Perubahan
Iklim sebagai satu contoh
yang jelas dari efek
Pemanasan Global.
Akibatnya, baru-baru ini ada
banjir, musim kering yang
panjang, tanah longsor dan
kebakaran hutan. Tanpa
langkah yang konkret,
akibatnya akan ada
Pemanasan Global yang
lebih buruk.
Australia adalah salah
satu negara maju yang sudah
mempunyai kebijakan
Lingkungan Hidup yang baik
dan dapat dikelola. Kita
dapat melihat hal ini
misalnya dalam program
daur ulang yang dijalankan
pemerintah lokal, Hari
Pembersihan Australia di
mana masyarakat Australia
bekerja sama untuk
membersihkan
tempat-tempat umum, dan
undang-undang yang mengatur
kontrol bahan sampah.
Ekonomi Australia sehat
selama ini dan tidak
menderita karena kebijakan
Lingkungan Hidupnya.
Indonesia dapat melihat
kepada Australia sebagai
sebuah negeri dengan
ekonomi yang sehat sambil
menjalankan kebijakan

untuk Perubahan Iklim di Kyoto:
Tidak dapat disangkal bahwa semua negara di dunia bertanggung jawab terhadap
masalah polusi global yang meningkat. Bagaimanapun juga, perlu diingatkan bahwa
negara-negara majulah yang pertama-tama mengakibatkan masalah yang sulit itu, jadi
merekalah yang seharusnya menjadi pelopor dalam pengurangan polusi.
Satu alasan yang mendesak untuk menurunkan polusi adalah kebutuhan untuk
mengurangi efek rumah kaca. Ini adalah kegiatan yang mahal dan negara maju memiliki
keuangan dan teknologi untuk menjalankan hal ini. Sebaliknya, negara-negara yang
sedang berkembang tidak dapat membiayai ongkos kontrol lingkungan hidup yang
