Furthermore, I am grateful to the headmaster and the teacher in MTs Ma‟arif

NU Kemangkon that allowed me to conduct the research. Then, the students at second grade particularly VIII B and VIII C who had participated during the research. (AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE SECOND GRADE STUDENTS OF

MTs Ma’arif NU Kemangkon ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014)

This research was aimed to find out the effectiveness of word web for teaching writing of narrative text. This research was conducted at MTs Ma‟arif NU Kemangkon in academic year 2013/2014. The total sample of this research was 78 students. The students were divided into two classes: VIII B and VIII C. VIII C was as experimental class that is taught by word web, and VIII B was as control class taught by conventional technique. In collecting data, this study used test: pre-test and post-test which were in the form of paragraph writing. Pre-test was given before the treatment, and post-test was given after the treatment.

Based on the result, it was found that word web was effective for teaching writing narrative text. It can be seen in the result of t-test which was 4.050, and t-table was 1.665at significant level of 0.05 with 76 degree of freedom. Thus, the t-test was higher than t-table (4.050 > 1.665). Finally, the hypothesis of this study that word web was effective for teaching writing narrative text was accepted.
