The Government of Australia and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia
(hereinafter referred to as
"the Parties''),
Recognisi11g the importance of scienli.tic research and teclmological development,
Stressing the importmce of
education
andtraining
in
national
deve1opment
wider
the framework of the Australia-Indonesia Ministerial forum,

their respective countries, and extendingand succeeding the Memorandwn of
Understandingon Cooperation in
Educationand Training signed b;' the Parties on 17 November 1992,
Have reached the following
understandings:
GENERAL
OBJECTIVES1. This Memorandum of Understanding provides the frarnework within which
detailed proposals for programs of cooperation in education and training are to be
jointly considered between the Parties on the basis of reciprocity and mutual
benefit.
