Ratna Juwita. C0307047. 2015. The Analysis of Commissive Speech Act in the Movie Entitled Ice Princess. Thesis: English Department of Faculty of
Letters and Fine Arts. Sebelas Maret University
This research is conducted to analyze the commissive speech act type employed by the characters of Ice Princess movie. The research inspects the types of commissive speech act, the strategy to deliver the commissive, and the reason of choosing the strategy.
The research employs pragmatics study to analyze the commissive speech act. The descriptive qualitative research is used in this research. All of commissives utterances in the Ice Princess movie taken are as the data of this research. There are 32 data which are analyzed by Searle’s theory of commissive speech act and Brown and Levinson theory of politeness strategy.
The findings of this research can be seen in the following result: first, there are eight types of commissive speech employed by the Ice Princess movie characters. These types are promising, threatening, offering, refusing, inviting, betting, guaranteeing, and agreeing. Offering is the type which employed dominantly by the characters of Ice Princess movie.
Second, there are 4 strategies which are exploited by the movie characters in delivering commissive speech act. These strategies are bald on- record strategy, positive politeness strategy, off- record strategy, and negative politeness strategy.
Third, there are nine reasons which motivate the characters of Ice Princess movie to choose certain strategy in delivering commissive speech act.

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisa tipe-tipe tindak tutur komisif dalam film Ice Princess. Hal yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini adalah tipe-tipe tindak tutur komisif, stratergi untuk menyampaikan komisif, dan alasan dalam pemilihan strategi.
Penelitian ini menggunakan kajian pragmatik untuk menganalisa tindak tutur komisif. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diambil dari segala tuturan komisif dalam film Ice Princess. Terdapat 32 data yang dianalisis menggunakan teori tindak tutur komisif oleh Searle dan strategi kesopanan oleh Brown dan Levinson.
Hasil dari penelitian ini disajikan sebagai berikut: (1) Terdapat 8 tuturan komisif yang digunakan oleh karakter film Ice Princess, yaitu: menjanjikan, mengancam, menawarkan, menolak, mengundang, mempertaruhkan, menjamin, dan menyetujui. Menawarkan adalah tipe yang paling banyak digunakan oleh karakter dalam film Ice Princess. (2) Terdapat 4 strategi yang dipakai oleh karakter dalam film ini dalam menyampaikan tindak tutur komisif, yaitu: strategi
bald on- record, strategi positive politeness, strategi off- record, dan strategi
negative politeness. (3) Terdapat 9 alasan yang menyebabkan karakter dalam Ice Princess untuk memilih strategi-strategi tersebut dalam menyampaikan tindak tutur komisif.
