Perawat yang memiliki produktivitas dan motivasi kerja yang tinggi maka kinerja pelayanan rumah sakit juga baik. Tingginya keluhan pasien (85,6%) tentang pelayanan keperawatan RSUD Kota Padangsidimpuan menunjukkan masih rendahnya motivasi kerja perawat pelaksana, hal tersebut diduga terkait dengan kepemimpinan yang belum baik. Sehingga perumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah bagaimana hubungan kemampuan soft skill dan hard skill manajer keperawatan terhadap motivasi kerja perawat pelaksana. Tujuannya adalah menjelaskan bagaimana kedua hubungan kemampuan tersebut terhadap motivasi kerja perawat pelaksana.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dalam bentuk survei dengan pendekatan explanatory research. Metode pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara, kuesioner dan data laporan yang diperoleh dari rumah sakit. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji chi square.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan soft skill yang baik sebesar 59,8% dan kemampuan hard skill yang baik sebesar 87,6%. Motivasi kerja perawat pelaksana sebagian besar mempunyai motivasi dengan kategori tinggi sebesar 59,8%. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan bahwa variabel soft skill berpengaruh terhadap motivasi kerja perawat pelaksana dengan nilai p= 0,001 (p<0,05) dan variabel hard skill terhadap motivasi kerja perawat pelaksana dengan nilai p= 0,002 (p<0,05).
Disarankan kepada pihak rumah sakit untuk mempertahankan serta lebih meningkatkan motivasi baik manajer keperawatan maupun perawat pelaksana dengan memberikan penghargaan bagi yang berprestasi, memberlakukan sistem jenjang karir dan meningkatkan pendidikan secara formal maupun non formal.

ii ABSTRACT
The nurse who have high productivity and work motivation, are also good in hospital service performance. The many patient complaints (85.6%) of nursing services at RSUD Padangsidimpuan indicates that the nurse work’s motivation, its allegedly associated with leadership that hasn’t been good. So the formulation of the problem of this research is how the relationship between the ability of soft skills and hard skills of nursing managers on work motivation nurses. The goals to explain how the relationship of that ability to work motivation of nurses.
The research was a quantitative survey with an explanatory research approach which was aimed to analyze the correlation between nursing manager’s
leadership style and nurse practitioners’ motivation. The data were gathered by
conducting interviews, questionnaires, the hospital medical records and analyzed by using chi squaretest.
The result of the research showed that 59,8%of the managers had moderate soft skill capacity and 87,6% of them had good hard skill capacity, while 59.8% of nurse practitioners were in moderate category in their motivation. The result of statistic test showed that the variable of soft skill influenced nurse practitioners’ performance at p-value = 0.001 (p< 0.05) and the variable of hard skill influence their motivation at p-value = 0.002 (p< 0.05).
It is recommended that the hospital management increase the motivation of nursing managers and nurse practitioners by giving rewards for those who have good performance, carry out career ranking system, and increase formal and non-formal education.
