The tapir is a relative of horses and rhinoceros in some ways but it is quite different from the horses. The tapir is the same as horse in the sense that both have odd hoofed legs.

A tapir is usually heavy and clumsy. It is smaller than a rhinoceros and has no horns. Its head looks like a pig’s head. Like the rhinoceros, it has small eyes and short ears. The tapir’s tail is short, too.

Tapirs live in swamps and streams. You can usually find them in jungles and forests of Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatera and other tropical countries. They like to hide themselves among the leaves and tall grasses. They sleep during the day and search for food only at night.

Tapirs are herbivores. They eat leaves, fruits and other vegetation. Their senses of hearing and smelling are very good. They are also good swimmers and often find protection in the water.

Amran was orphaned when he was six years old. His parents passed away in a tragic road accident when they went for a holiday. Since he has no other family members and relatives, so he lives inSinarHarapan orphanage. He was always focusing in his studies and diligent on doing household chores when he was there. Everyone liked him.

He aspired to be a successful doctor. So, he worked hard. As he was diligent and perseverant in his studies, he always attained excellent results in his examination. Soon, the Social Welfare Department offered him a scholarship to pursue his higher studies. He did not decline. He studied hard in the university and achieved excellence in all his examinations.

Finally, he succeeded in becoming a doctor. As a doctor, Dr. Amran has never forgotten he is an orphan who had gotten a lot of help from others. He wants to repay other’s kindness. So, since he has established his own clinic, he gives free treatment to the orphans and the poor people who cannot afford payment. Dr. Amran is a kind, successful and considerate doctor.

One day, a buffalo was taking a sip of water at the river’s edge. Suddenly, it saw a hunter. The

hunter was about to shoot a crocodile.

It was sunning itself on the river bank. The buffalo lowed loudly and this startled the crocodile. It quickly slid into the river and swam away.

The next day, the buffalo felt thirsty. So, it went to the river again. As it was sipping the water, the crocodile came up silently. It bit the buffalo’s leg and pulled it towards the water. The buffalo kicked out but it was hopeless. The crocodile pulled it into the river.
