Hunting season is starting -- use caution
Hunting season is now upon us in Western New York. The first season began Oct. 14 (sunrise to sunset), and the final season is over on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
Please be very careful if you decide to walk in any wooded area during this time. If you do, wear blaze orange or some other very bright color. If you see a POSTED sign, get the landowner's permission to enter or you could be fined for trespassing.
Hunting is not allowed on Alfred University property which includes the woods behind the campus and around Foster Lake.

Mark Smith appointed AU's SUNY technology liaison
Dr. Suzanne Buckley, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, has appointed Mark A. Smith, information systems librarian at Scholes Library, as College of Ceramics liaison to the SUNY Training Center and the SUNY Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC). In addition Mark will also be the NYSCC Campus representative to the SUNY Faculty Access to Computing Technology committee (FACT). In these three roles Mark will serve the University as the primary information conduit to faculty, staff and technical support personnel for information relating to programs and workshops
offered through these important SUNY support organizations. He will work to see that our campus takes full advantage of these opportunities.
Mark is familiar with the wide variety of programs within SUNY that support teaching and learning through technology. In addition to his campus roles in advancing library technologies through SUNYConnect, Mark has served the library community for many years as the SUNY Librarians Association's representative to the SUNY Provost's FACT Advisory Council. Through his efforts on this council he has worked closely with SUNY leadership on technology initiatives including the Student Computing Access Program, Conferences on Computing in the Disciplines and as a presenter, facilitator and advisor for the Annual SUNY Conference on Information Technology (CIT).
