TEKS UNTUK SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 02 PUBIAN TAHUN PELAJARAN 2017/2018. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman dan aktivitas belajar siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 02 Pubian tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif, berbentuk penelitian eksperimen dan bersifat hubungan antar variabel pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 02 Pubian.

It means that experimental research is an investigation to know the effect of one variable on the other variable.

The research conducted at SMP N 02 Pubian. The population of this study was the seventh grade students in academic year 2017/2018 of SMP N 2 Pubian, which consists of 35 students of 1 grade. The sample of this study was the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Pubian in 7.1 1 grade (Accounting). To know the effectiveness of PBL on the students' reading comprehension, the researcher used a test to measure this.

Hypothesis Formulation

Based on the problem in the class, the researcher can come up with a plan to investigate. The researcher used a quantitative research type pre-experimental design to determine the effect of problem-based learning on students' reading comprehension in the seventh grade of SMP N 2 Pubian. The purpose of this research is to determine that problem-based learning (PBL) can be used to improve students' reading comprehension.

In order to explore the findings of the research, the students first got a question from the teacher that they know the knowledge of reading comprehension in the pre-test, the teacher got the pre-test score from the student, and the teacher found the students who got low and high scores. the results. After the teacher found out the students' results, the teacher made a treatment for all the students using problem-based learning (PBL) and reading the text to increase their knowledge. The teacher explained more about problem-based learning (PBL) and how to recognize the text read.

After the treatment is completed, the researcher performs a post-test to determine the outcome of the treatment. If the score was higher than the post-test, it meant that the problem-based learning strategy could not be used to increase reading comprehension, but if the score was higher than the pre-test.

Marczyk et.al defined that "The population of interest is usually determined by the purpose of the study and the research question itself"26. The survey respondents' samples are students who have seventh graders from Pubian's State Junior High School 2, that number of 35 students. The researcher has removed 1 class from the class to become a respondent in the study because their proficiency is low based on the preliminary study.

The model of this sample is a dependent sample, based on Donal Ary stated that "The sample is necessary for the researcher". 28. Ary states that "The test is about testing hypotheses about a population correlation".29 It means that a test is one of the tools to measure the basic ability and achievement of students. Furthermore, the researcher uses the test as a data collection method to measure both variables.

The researcher measured the students' reading comprehension by administering a reading comprehension test using reading texts. Knowing the results of the test so that the researcher uses the stage of the test, from pretest to posttest. In obtaining information, the researcher got three types of sources such as: paper, place and people.

The researcher uses the documentation to get detailed information about problem-based learning, reading comprehension and the state of school in SMP N 2 Pubian.

The multiple choice test format consisting of 10 items is a multiple choice test consisting of four multiple choice options (A, B, C, D). Multiple choice used to correctly answer the questions given in the test.

Data Analysis Technique

SMP Negeri 02 Pubian was established based on the decision of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at number 0363/2007 on June 20, 2007. To do this, the principal of SMP Negeri 02 Pubian is assisted by school committee, official employee, the head-vice of student, the head-vice of general, and the head-vice of curriculum. In summary, the post-test result was categorized into a passing category, although several students still lacked a problem-based learning strategy in terms of the students' reading comprehension, but overall there was some influence to help the students achieve a gain a better understanding. Then, to know the critical value of chi-square, the researcher first counted df, which stands for degrees of freedom. Therefore, the values ​​of the degrees of freedom table at the 5% level are 9.488 and at the 1% level.

To find out whether there was a positive and significant impact of problem-based learning strategy on students' reading comprehension of descriptive text in the seventh grade of SMP. The researcher prepared the table and put the data into the t-test formula below to get t_observed. The results of pre-test and post-test scores of reading comprehension in descriptive text in the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 02 Pubian.

FYI, t_observed was 184.43 as a result of counting using the t-test formula above. Meanwhile, the critical value of the t-test (t_table), the researcher first counted df, df is the degree of freedom.

Interpretation

Discussion

The fact showed that there was a change in the number of students who got lower results. In the end, they were able to apply their descriptive text score, especially reading comprehension. Finally, the problem-based learning strategy can be a solution for the teaching learning process, especially in reading, because it makes students more active during learning.

By using this strategy, the teaching and learning process was more interesting, enjoyable and fun as it involved visual skills and creativity among the students so that they could better cooperate during the learning process.

Limitation

Based on the analysis and the results of the research, the researcher can conclude that the problem-based learning strategy has a positive influence on the students' reading comprehension. It can be used as a strategy in learning reading comprehension, and it can improve reading comprehension. So there is an influence of using problem-based learning strategy on students' reading comprehension in descriptive text of the seventh graders at SMP Negeri 02 Pubian in the academic year 2017/2018.

SUGGESTIONS

The teacher is suggested to guide the students in reading the text. The students are advised to try to read the text using a problem-based learning strategy.
