Before starting the material, the researcher asked the students if they understood the descriptive text.

From the test result, it can be seen that the teaching learning process was successful because the students' scores increased in cycle 2. This means that the spelling bee game had a positive effect in relation to the teaching and learning process, especially by improving the students' learning activities in the classroom.

Data Collection Technique

Research Instrument

The indicator of students' writing ability is that students can increase their writing based on vocabulary, pronunciation, structure and grammar. In post-test cycle 1, only 13 students got a good score, but the result of the student test was better than the students' test before giving treatment. There were some observations that had been made such as: observation of students' activities, teacher's notes and observation of the result of the evaluation.

So the MSC was met if 80% of the students in the class got at least 70 points. From the increase in pre-test to post-test cycle I, it could be known that the spelling example as a medium for teaching and learning could increase students' writing ability of descriptive tests. So it was fulfilling the SMC that 80% of the students in the class got at least 70 scores.

Based on the table, it can be concluded that there was an increase in the students' learning activities during the study through the spelling game in improving the students' writing ability in the descriptive test. • Cycle

The students must provide the correct past form and it must be spelled whisper correctly by the way. And then rightly or wrongly the students went to the end of his/her line. After students wrote the example and heard the material, the researcher and the students reviewed and discussed the pretest from the previous meeting.

Nevertheless, the improvement of the score from the mean in the pretest was 37.45 and the mean of the score in the posttest cycle 2 was 68.32, but the MSC did not meet that at least the average of the students' scores were. We started the meeting with a greeting, prayer, asking about the condition of the students, checking the attendance list and motivating the students. Before the next activity, the researcher asked the students to recall the lesson yesterday.

The researcher gave the students 20 vocabularies and the students memorized 20 vocabularies and divided the students into four groups. After memorizing 20 vocabulary words, the students played the spelling game in each group, standing in front of the whiteboard. And then, whether it was right or wrong, the students went to the end of his/her line.

Then the researcher read these sentences and the students imitate each sentence what the researcher says and correct the students'. There were some observations that were made such as: observations about the students' activities and observation about the teachers' activities. Based on the result of observational learning process on cycle II, it can be concluded that most of the students paid attention to the teacher and they were able to accept the material more clearly.

Most of the students enjoyed when they studied through spelling games and it also made the students feel good.

Discussion

  • The result of the Research
  • The Result of Students’ Observation Sheet

However, due to the result of the students' scores could not reach the goal: we decided to give a test to the students used in the same way in cycle I, but with a different lesson plan. This means that students were able to meet the target, with 80% of students achieving a score of 70 or more. Based on the result of the observation learning process on cycle II, it can be seen that the teaching learning process was successful because the students who can realize more than 70 were 27 students or 80% of all the students.

Although in cycle I the writing skills of the students scored satisfactory, in cycle II most of the students were able to achieve the goal of success in this research. It can be seen from the results test of the students that cycle II is higher than cycle I, it means that by using spelling bee game the students can increase their writing skills while learning descriptive text. It is suggested to the teacher that the English teacher use spelling bee game as a technique, because this technique is effective to increase the writing skills of the students in learning.

It is suggested that the English teacher use the spelling bee game as a technique because it can automatically improve the students' motivation and make them put in their best efforts to accept the material given by the teacher. Students must be confident and always remember the vocabulary of writing skills to enhance the teaching of writing in the classroom. Some of the students are loud to fight with their friends and walk to and fro, another just keep quiet.
