THE INFLUENCE OF READING FOLKLORE ON STUDENT'S VOCABULARY AT 8TH GRADE STUDENT'S OF SMP. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of reading folklore on students' vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students at SMP Negeri 6 Metro. The subject of study is eighth grade in SMP Negeri 6 Metro in VIII 1 consists of 27 students.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh membaca cerita rakyat terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Metro. Reading folklore here is about something that can make students feel enjoy in teaching and learning process, especially learning foreign language. To help our learners not get frustrated easily and to help them enjoy the English learning tasks, we need to find ways to enrich their knowledge of vocabulary, one of which is using authentic materials such as reading folklore stories that enable the learners to develop their ability and become more independent learners. Based on the fact above, the researcher assumes that reading folklore is a strategy that requires some important aspects such as the reader's intention and motivation.
Folklore readings are interesting and motivating alternatives to implement in an English class to enhance vocabulary learning. From the above description, the researcher organizes research entitled "The impact of reading folklore towards students' vocabulary mastery in the eighth grade students of SMPN 6 Metro". Because there are a large number of problems related to vocabulary ability, the researcher focuses on the fact that the student's vocabulary ability is low, and the researcher used folklore reading in this research.

There is not a significant influence of using Reading folklore on students' vocabulary at Eighth Grade SMP Negeri 6 Metro. Therefore, it can be concluded that "there is a positive and significant impact of using Reading folklore on students' vocabulary at eighth grade SMP Negeri 6 Metro." There was a significant impact of Reading Folklore on students' vocabulary in the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 6 Metro.

SMP Negeri 6 Metro was established on July 1, 1988 based on the Ministry of Education's decision with number 10807606. It was done to find out the students' basic knowledge of vocabulary mastery in pretest before treatment. Vocabulary mastery in eighth grade pretest in SMP Negeri 6 Metro the academic year 2019/2020.
The post-test was used in the last program of this research after giving the students some treatments and exercises. The post-test was conducted to know the students' achievements after the treatments. It was beneficial to know the influence of using Reading folklore on students' vocabulary based on the results of these tests. This means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) explains "there is a positive and significant influence of using Reading folklore on students' vocabulary." During the study, the author observed that the students are interesting to learn English material by using Reading folklore.
After the implementation of quantitative research in the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 6 Metro and according to the pre-test and post-test result, it could be concluded that there was a positive and significant impact before and after the implementation of Folklore Reading in teaching the Mastery of Dictionary. Based on the analysis of research data, the researcher concludes in this research, the use of Folklore Reading as a strategy is an alternative strategy that can affect students' vocabulary. The teacher can choose Reading Folklore an alternative strategy in learning English, especially in mastering vocabulary, so that the student can understand the material given by the teacher, because with an interesting strategy in teaching learning, it can automatically improve the motivation of students in the learning process. and may cause them to make maximum efforts to accept the material given by the teacher.
Students should be more active in learning English, especially in vocabulary mastery by using folklore reading, because using PQRST strategy can help students enjoy following the material given by the teacher.
