Judul Skripsi: The Effectiveness of Photography as a Medium in Writing Descriptive Text (A Pre-Experimental Research Design in the Tenth Grade of SMAN 9 Makassar). The Effectiveness of Photography as a Medium in Writing Descriptive Text (A Pre-Experimental Research Design for Tenth Grade Students of SMAN 9 Makassar). Ultimately, based on the findings and discussion above, the researcher concluded that teaching writing using photography is effective in improving students' writing on descriptive text in terms of content and organization in the tenth grade of SMAN 9 Makassar.

Keeping the above assertions in mind, the researcher conducts a research entitled “Effectiveness of Photography as a Medium in Teaching Descriptive Writing in Grade Ten of SMAN 9 Makassar”. Is the use of photography as a medium effective to improve students' writing about descriptive text in terms of content in the tenth grade of SMAN 9 Makassar. Is the use of photography as a medium effective to improve students' writing on descriptive text in terms of organization in the tenth grade of SMAN 9 Makassar.

To find out whether or not the use of photography as a medium is effective in improving students' writing about descriptive texts. To find out whether or not the use of photographs as a medium is effective in organizationally improving students' writing about descriptive texts.

INTRODUCTION

Background

It is known that the teacher plays an important role in the teaching and learning process. Learning media is one of the important things that have a great influence on exploring the education system and students' abilities. In teaching-learning activities, the teacher needs the media to convey the material and information to the students.

In addition, media as a tool used by teachers in the teaching and learning process must be consistent with the curriculum used by the teacher himself. In this case, photography is one of the media considered effective in improving students' learning outcomes. Based on the teacher's information in the observation that some of the above problems are also encountered by the tenth grade students in SMAN 9 Makassar, such as the students were not interested and motivated in the teaching and learning process.

Based on the above problem, the researcher is interested to solve the problem by using photography as a medium in the teaching and learning process. Photo is one of the effective media that can be applied because media is not monotonous and directly related to the daily life of students.

Problem Statement

Memahami struktur teks ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal. Memahami unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal. Materi lembar kerja ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal.

Menulis resume berdasarkan hasil observasi dan bacaan terkait ekspresi memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal. Memberikan materi kepada guru dalam mengungkapkan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal. Siswa mengerjakan soal-soal terkait materi ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal.

Pengecekan hasil pekerjaan siswa segera dilakukan pengecekan bahan ajar untuk ekspresi memberi dan mencari informasi tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal. Lembar kerja materi struktur teks ekspresi memberi dan mencari informasi tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal (dalam bentuk gambar). Tulislah rangkuman berdasarkan pengamatan dan bacaan terkait struktur teks ungkapan memberi dan mencari informasi tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal (dalam bentuk gambar).

Pemberian materi struktur teks ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal oleh guru. Siswa mengerjakan berbagai soal mengenai materi struktur teks untuk ekspresi memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal. Jadwalkan pekerjaan rumah untuk materi pelajaran struktur teks ekspresi memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang baru saja diselesaikan.

Lembar kerja unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan mencari informasi tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal (dalam bentuk fotografi). Tulislah rangkuman berdasarkan pengamatan dan bacaan yang berkaitan dengan unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan mencari informasi tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal (dalam bentuk gambar). Pemberian materi unsur kebahasaan dari ungkapan memberi dan mencari informasi tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal oleh guru.

Rencanakan pekerjaan rumah untuk materi pembelajaran unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan pertanyaan untuk informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang baru saja diselesaikan. Pengecekan hasil pekerjaan siswa segera dilakukan pengecekan bahan ajar yang mengandung unsur kebahasaan dari ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal. Lembar kerja makna teks deskriptif yang berkaitan dengan tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal (dalam bentuk fotografi).

Siswa mengerjakan beberapa soal tentang makna teks deskriptif tentang tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal.

The Conceptual Framework

The above conceptual framework describes learning processes in improving students' ability to write descriptive text than by using photography as a medium. In this conceptual framework, the researcher was given treatment of students who use photography as a medium in teaching and learning processes. The students observed to know if they can improve their writing descriptive text during the teaching and learning process and also performance after doing the treatment.

Research Hypothesis

Alternative hypothesis (H₁): There is a significant difference between the mean score of the pre-test and the post-test of the students who write a descriptive text after the treatment using a photo.

Siswa diberikan motivasi atau rangsangan untuk memusatkan perhatiannya pada materi pelajaran – ekspresi memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal dengan cara tertentu. Mengajukan pertanyaan terkait materi, mengungkapkan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang telah disusun menjadi daftar pertanyaan untuk guru. Siswa dan guru berdiskusi bersama contoh-contoh yang ada di buku teks mengenai materi ekspresi memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah yang terkenal.

Soal-soal materi presentasi, ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal dilakukan dan siswa lain diberi kesempatan untuk menjawabnya. Menjawab pertanyaan mengenai materi – mengungkapkan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang terdapat dalam buku pegangan siswa atau lembar kerja yang disediakan. Siswa dimotivasi atau dirangsang untuk fokus pada topik materi, struktur teks, ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal.

Mengajukan pertanyaan terkait materi struktur teks, ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang telah disusun menjadi daftar pertanyaan untuk guru. Soal-soal untuk penyajian materi struktur teks, ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal dilakukan dan siswa lain diberi kesempatan untuk menjawabnya. Jawablah pertanyaan materi struktur teks untuk mengungkapkan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang terdapat pada buku pegangan siswa atau LKS yang telah disediakan.

Mengajukan pertanyaan terkait unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal, yang disusun dalam daftar pertanyaan untuk guru. Dilakukan tanya jawab terkait penyajian unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang diberi kesempatan untuk menjawab oleh siswa lain. Jawablah pertanyaan tentang unsur kebahasaan ungkapan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang terdapat pada buku pegangan atau lembar kerja siswa.

Rencanakan pekerjaan rumah bahan ajar makna teks deskriptif terkait tempat wisata dan bangunan bersejarah terkenal yang baru saja diselesaikan.

FINDING AND DISCUSSION

Findings

The findings of this research showed the description of the result of the research through the average grade of the students in the pre-test and post-test in terms of content and organizational achievements using photography as teaching media. Students' writing of descriptive text in terms of content using photography as teaching media was different in pre-test and post-test. The following table shows the distribution of the main points in the pre-test, post-test and the improvement of the students' organization.

In this case, the researcher used t-test (significance test) for independent variable test, it was a test to know the significant difference between the result of students' mean scores in pre-test and post-test. The researcher used t-test analysis at the level of significant (α) = 0.05 with the degree of freedom. df) = N-1, where N= number of subject (20 students) then the value of t- table 2.09 was the t-test statistical, analysis for independent variable was applied. The result of the data analysis t-test of the students' writing on descriptive text using photo as teaching media in table 4.5.

It means that there were significant differences between students' writing score in descriptive text after the treatment of using photography as teaching media. Furthermore, the t-test value was higher than the t-table at the 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) 20 (N-1=20-1), so the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀ ) was rejected. Conversely, if the value was lower than the t-table at the 0.05 significance level and 20 degrees of freedom, then the alternative hypothesis was rejected and the null hypothesis was accepted.
