ABSTRACT
Background: In the city of Makassar are still a lot of LBW with IUGR due to maternal severe malnutrition, anemia and sexually transmitted disease (STD) before conception or during pregnancy. Based on data on the number of babies born with Low Birth Weight (LBW) were from Division of Community Health, in 2011 the number of LBW babies as much as 186 of 26.129 live-born infants around 0.71%, an increase compared to the year 2010 the number of infants bom LBW 184 of 25.830 the baby was bom alive or about 0.71%.
Purpose: To knowing the correlation between maternal age and parity on the incidence of low birth weight infants (LBW).
Method: This study was conducted in R.S Siti Fatimah, Kota Makassar South Sulawesi in December 2013 This study used a cross-sectional design. Data is take directly (using medical records) Data were analyzed using Chi Square test in SPSS ver 16.
Result: The results showed that the correlation of maternal age on the incidence of low birth weight babies in hospital Siti Fatimah with an p=0.153 parity with p=0.33
Conclution: There are currently no correlation between maternal age and parity on the incidence of low birth weight infants (LBW)
