THE STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION

The President presides over all sessions of the Senate, the Union and the Student Union. The membership of the Womeu'K Studeut Government consists of all female students in Alfred University's College of Therapeutic Arts. The quorum of the Student Government consists of at least two-thirds of jts memoirs.

Six members of the council are quorum, and the council may not take any action by agreement of five voting members. This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote (of a quorum) of the organization.

REGULATIONS

To grant permission, he had to have the petition signed by the president of the organization and another upper class representative on the Council. CAMPUS COURT

Upper class students at the college may be spectators at meetings, but may not participate in the process. This must be done before the next meeting in Ilodien. He must mock at a fixed time and meet. If all the members of the court are not present, three-fourths of the jury may conduct trials and amend the constitution.

-To revise the constitution of this court, a three-quarters vote of the SAW court is necessary. Ec'l'IONs-The administrator must be a senior appointee!. with a majority vote of the Student Senate.

Men of the J)'reshmen class who violate Campus Hules as established in Article II. The promotional season will consist of the first three days, starting on: the day following the opening of the college and ending on the Wednesday of the week. Tile chimes from the chapel bell previously (\ :00 A. 1\1 will be the signal that the first real procedure has been removed.

All permissive permissions must be submitted immediately to the Dean of Women, who must also approve chaperoneship for such functions. That all dancing sllaJl \", subject to the supervision of the committee for Student Life.

It is his duty at all times to consult with the Student Senate and make recommendations to it relating to matters of student conduct and self-government. There will be no dancing in any university building unless approved by the Student Life Committee.

PUBLICATIONS

For students to be allowed to hold office and participate in student activities - it is only as directed by the merit system.

ATHLETICS

Since the one-year ruling went into effect at Alfred In relation to New York State Conference play, Fresbman teams have generally improved in strength and performance and are playing Rdivc schedules. Athletics are also promoted hy schemes of interclass competitions, .Ilielly between the lower classes,; and intramural sports, which are administered by the Intramural Athletic Association under the supervision of the Director of Athletics. The construction of a proposed new high school, east of the current one, will satisfy current defeats for both men and women.

A Fresh-Ulan team playing a good schedule requires the support of every member of the entering class. Three State Conference titles have been attached and the team has been in the top five in the Mid-Atlantic Conference the last four years.

ELIGIBILITY RULES

No faculty member of Alfred l'University may participate in any collegiate or inter-scholastic competition. A candidate for a position on a team must present themselves to the chairman of the athletic committee and sign the tile after the declaration. The coach has full jurisdiction over the team in all matters of conflict.

In any game played outside the city, outside of the regular schedule approved by the athletic committee. Matches will not be played either on Saturday or Sunday, except by special permission of the President.

ARTICLE VIII-BY-LAWS

Capital and lowercase letters should be managers separated, according to their sport classification; and for coaches with the designation letter appended .

On the recommendation of the Board of Governors, the association sliall provide approved standard jerseys to all persons who receive their head "AU for the first time. Head cheerleader, coach, assistant coaches, Jnmpb I!'nnel manager, and two as- the managers of the Jumpb Fund will be appointed by the governing board at the final meeting of each school year.

CROSS COUNTRY TROPHY

An amendment to this constitution may be adopted by a two-thirds majority vote after publication of the proposed amendment in the Fiat Lnx. For the past twenty years, Alfred Bas has hosted the interacholastic track meet, featuring colleges from Central and Western New York and Pennsylvania.

MEN'S INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL

All bids stamped and addressed must be in the hands of SecretRl'y at that time. the following Monday, and all bids are returned before the Christmas holidays begin. 1'ho regular meetings of the Council shall be on the first Wednesday of each mOJI(h of tile college yca.·; time to be fixed by tlie Prpsillent. Notice of each meeting shall be given by the President of the Council at least twenty-four hours before the time of meeting.

A fine of one dollar shall be imposed on each absentee at or before the next meeting of the Council. Each fraternity must submit a complete list of active members and members to the secretary at the beginning of each college semester.

WOMEN'S INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL

All officers of the council will be students, but in the event of a disagreement deemed important by the council, an impartial referee will be appointed whose decision will be final. An infinite amount of money will be appropriated for entertainment, the amount of which will be determined by the Council. Hitherto no new woman may be received more than five times in a maternity hospital, nor more than three resb men be invited at any time, except by special arrangement with the Council at a previous event.

Any brotherhood which, through arbitrariness or hostility, belittles or attempts to belittle or humiliate another brotherhood in the eyes of any person shall be deemed to have committed the same. The Council determines the nature and extent of the damage resulting from a proven crime.

HONORARY SOCIETIES

The board can vote on it at any time after it has been submitted to the fraternities. All upperclassmen enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the New York State School of Clay Working and Ceramics are eligible for membership provided they have completed cd their previous college work at a minimum index, which for the juniors is 2.4, and for the seniors 2.2. Phi Sigma Gamma is an honorary fraternity formed to recognize those women who have rendered positive service to Alfred for at least two years.

Phi Psi Omega is an honorary fraternity. designed to form a bond between men in the two upper classes who have proved) their loyalty to AUretl. The nominal eligibility requirement for membership is at least twenty hours of social studies with an average grade above 85 percent.

CLUBS

It consists of all the upperclassmen and faculty of the New York School of Clay Working and Ceramics. DEU'l'SOHE VEREIN is a club whose only qualification for membership is an inter0-Ht in German. It holds weekly meetings and aims to create an understanding of German literature, life and customs.

At least once a year an appropriate play is chosen and the c1uh given. LE CERCLE FRAXCAIS is a student organization formed for the informal study of Frenl'h in its most interesting p' ase.
