This purpose of this study was to know students' reading comprehension on descriptive text among the eighth graders at SMP Darul Ulum Sekampung in the academic year 2018/2019. Therefore, the researcher formulated a problem statement: How is the students' reading comprehension of descriptive text among the eighth graders at SMP Darul Ulum Sekampung in the academic year 2018/2019. The population of the study was eight grade SMP Darul Ulum Sekampung in the academic year 2018/2019.
Dari analisis berdasarkan hasil dokumentasi dan data wawancara, dapat disimpulkan bahwa jenis-jenis keterampilan membaca dalam teks deskriptif di antara delapan kelas SMP Darul Ulum Sekampung tahun ajaran 2018/2019, siswa sepenuhnya memahami teks dan mengajukan pertanyaan dan menjawab dengan benar, siswa memahami sebagian besar teks dan pertanyaan hanya diajukan satu kali, siswa menunjukkan sedikit pemahaman tentang teks dan pertanyaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman membaca teks deskriptif siswa kelas VIII SMP Darul Ulum Sekampung tahun pelajaran 2018/2019. Oleh karena itu peneliti merumuskan rumusan masalah: Bagaimana pemahaman membaca teks deskriptif siswa kelas VIII. kelas di SMA Darul Ulum Sekampung tahun ajaran 2018/2019.

In addition, from the result of the research data analysis in the previous elaboration, the researcher found that the students' ability in reading descriptive text was still low and needed to be improved. It can be seen from their result in reading the descriptive text that the students have done. Based on the analysis that was done by the researchers to the 10 respondents, it turns out that there are 4 Measurements of reading skills, namely Clarity, Voice, Impact and Comprehension.
In order to solve the problems the students have, the researcher was able to find that the students should learn more methods and strategies to make it easier to read and understand the text. In addition, students can enrich their vocabulary as it can help them to read the text. So the students did not need an open dictionary to find a difficult word in the sentences.
Suggestion
The institution should pay close attention to the students who want to study about literacy. Paying attention to this research is not perfect enough, the researcher hopes that there will be other researchers who will investigate in the theme of literacy in the future.
